Today January 28th at 9am a new episode from Sant'Antioco and, just to make you entice, it's 14 degrees here, the sun is setting and the sky has put on its evening dress! I'll add more… we started with 14 degrees and arrived with 18 🙂
Today's tour leads to the Tomb of the Giants and extends over a route of approximately 50km which can be covered in approximately 2 and a half hours. The route is almost entirely unpaved and includes some challenging passages. You will find some short but intense climbs and descents to be done with caution or at full blast!
A breathtaking view will always be with you and I'm not just talking about the sea. You will pedal in the midst of the Mediterranean scrub on brush-stroked hills and glimpses that will suddenly be discovered after every bend. You will find yourself pedaling on mostly dirt terrain, some paths carved out by the water and some passages on pure rock.
The giants' tomb of "Su Niu de su Crobu", located on the west coast of the island, is a typical example of collective funerary architecture of the Nuragic civilization. A place of burial and at the same time of worship, it rises not far from the nuragic basin of "Gruttiacqua".
This place was built during the Middle Bronze Age II starting from the 15th century BC using rocks of volcanic origin. Although not intact in the structure, it retains its charm and magnetism towards the visitor intact.
