Test Ride Concepts: MTB Flat Shoes with Boa

A shoe with a high technological content, for the biker looking for substance and reliability

A brand still little known in Italy, but which boasts among its testimonials some of the strongest international free ride riders. We tested the Tallac boa, a flat pedal model dedicated to intensive use.

A concentrate of technology

This model contains several highly interesting technological solutions.

As the name implies, the main locking device is entrusted to Boa, more precisely to the device Li2 with tx4 laces, a more resistant, flexible and low-friction material.

In Ride Concepts they leaned on the proven Boa system for the main closure

The upper is completely made of Cordura and heat-sealed. The sole with max grip rubber and hexagonal tessellation is designed to have maximum grip on the pedal in the central part. On the toe and on the heel, on the other hand, the hexagons are sectioned and with the opposite direction to each other, in order to guarantee the necessary grip.

The internal footbed aroused interest. The main structure is in EVA, a material that is often used in running shoes that combines excellent flexibility with the ability to better absorb shocks. This is joined by a D3O insole, often used in protections such as knee and elbow pads, which has the ability to absorb impacts by dispersing the inertia of the impact.

The internal insole in D3O, a material with very high shock absorption characteristics

This is combined with the gusseted tongue that prevents dirt from entering and the total TPU protection, more structured on the heel and toe

Proof

A well-structured shoe, designed for those who drive but also for portage traits. The internal insole absorbs vibrations very well; it might seem like a detail, but especially in the fastest sections and in the long descents the microtraumas are absorbed by the foot; in these situations, having a cushioned sole is certainly an advantage in terms of comfort and unloading of the structures.

The foot is well wrapped, the structure gives safety to the feet. The feeling of protection is total as well as the precision in driving, which gives precision in every situation. The sole with the distribution of the blocks has guaranteed excellent stability both in the portage sections and on the descents.

Conclusions

Anyone who thought that flat shoes were only useful in bike parks will have to think again with this Ride Concepts Tallac. A versatile shoe that knows how to accompany you in the different situations of riding. A robust structure with excellent technological solutions.
