Here is one of the most integrated solutions in the MTB world, namely carrying everything you need inside the headset of your MTB. Do not you believe it? Here are our evaluations of EDC, the product of OneUp, a Canadian brand.
FEATURES
The EDC contains:
- Allen keys of 2, 2.5, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8mm
- T25 torx
- 1 tire cleaner
- Chain wrench
- Tool for opening the false stitch (10 and 11 speeds)
- Housing for the false link
- Flat head screwdriver
- Spoke wrenches 0, 1, 2, 3
- Spare crankset bolt
- Tool for opening/closing the cassette (which also serves to re-tension the headset)
- Female connection at the end of the cylinder to be able to screw a 2, 12 or 16g CO20 canister or to screw a plastic cylinder into which to insert vermicelli, for example. Cylinder that makes the EDC a long 20cm seamless tube.
- Weight: 100g without plastic cylinder.
Installation
This is the most difficult part, that is, rethreading the headset. It is not complex but, for a user who is not familiar with the mechanics, it can lead to doubts. As well as voiding the warranty (although, like any warranty, it is up to the manufacturer to be more or less tolerant). In order to insert the EDC into the fork steerer it is necessary to remove the spider and rethread the first centimeter and a half of the steerer itself. OneUp supplies all the tools (and manual) to carry out this operation, i.e. spider extractor, cutter and relative screw.
FIELD TEST
The EDC is an excellent solution for having everything at hand: simple to extract and use. The multitool is light and of excellent quality although you have to train a bit to try to easily get it out of the plastic casing. The entire system is very stable and there are no suspicious movements or noises, even on the most technical descents. There is no danger of it jumping out of the tube.

The additional space at the end of the cylinder is excellent where you can decide to put some vermicelli or a convenient CO2. Everything remains dry, being inside the headset, and quickly accessible. OneUp, on your site, has many integration solutions including a version in which it is possible not to thread the fork: we recommend you take a look at it.

HOW MUCH DOES ONEUP EDC COST?
A flaw in this system is the price, which is quite high for tools, closing caps and the entire system.
EDC: $59
Cap with spacers: $25
Installation tools: $35
