We tried the new Leatt knee pads, namely the ultralight AirFlex Ultra Lite model, excellent for XC / Trail use. Price of 99€.

Airflex Ultra Lite is the extraordinary union of extremely light materials with CE certified impact protection. Designed to help achieve maximum pedaling efficiency, the kneepad offers support to the thighs while relieving pressure on the calf.

The Ultra Lite is made with knit fabric, like its companion AirFlex Hybrid Pro, to allow perspiration, and its impact gel padding fits perfectly into a mesh pocket to keep it still during movements. It also features an abrasion resistant area above the knee.

OUR IMPRESSIONS

The AirFlex Ultra Lite knee brace matches perfectly for XC/Trail use, or in light gravity use, that classic outing where they say: "okay, I'm not crashing today". Seriously, the Ultra Lite prevents small impacts but it is certainly not the definitive solution for Enduro use. It offers that minimal protection in the event of a crash, using (non-rigid) gel modules all over the knee and a small part of the tibia.

The weight is 100gr each: a negligible weight that is not felt once worn. The pedalability is at the highest levels, as can be expected from a product of this type: You can safely keep them worn even in laps of many hours and, in the hottest hours, they breathe very well.

Breathability, as mentioned, is excellent thanks to a knitted structure that allows you to wear them easily even on the hottest days. The sizes correspond to world standards, i.e. I usually wear size L and here I didn't go wrong with the L, unlike perhaps other brands. Naturally, like any knee brace, it would be ideal to try it so as not to find any nasty surprises.

Leatt always confirms itself at the forefront of its products and these new Airflex Ultra Lites are also approved with flying colors.

At the age of 18 I moved to cross country competing at national/international level as U23.
