Is his name perhaps a subliminal message? So no more vans for the lifts? Arrogant but sincere, in any case, a very high-end e-bike: full carbon, 145mm travel (150mm at the front), DW-link system and a record weight of 20kg! The motorization is Shimano.
The American Pivot was born in 2007 by Chris Cocalis and immediately tried to create products with very high performance and cutting-edge technical solutions. Pivot, with the Shuttle, did not contradict itself, it is a real work of art in the e-bike world, no doubt about it: the lines are fantastic, the quality of the carbon at the highest levels and the attention to detail. sublime. SHIMANO motorization combined with the 1 × 11 electric gearbox, also SHIMANO, Di2. A bike that wants to be the reference for the e-bike world, produced in a single assembly with the best of the components on the market. Pivot has also managed to seamlessly integrate DWLink, which is widely used in many of its models. The format is 27,5 PLUS with 2.8 tires. (in tests we had the inner tubes which add some weight).

FEATURES
The frame is Full Carbon, it means both front triangle and rear triangle. The attention to detail can be seen in many situations, such as the completely internal cable routing, abundant (but not flashy) protections in hard rubber under the bottom bracket and down tube and a mirrored stainless steel plate to avoid marks due to chain sucking. FOX suspension with the 36 at the front and the DPX2 Evol at the rear: 2 of the most popular models. Gearbox and engine is entrusted to SHIMANO: the electronic XT Di2 group is connected directly to the main battery which works in symbiosis with the engine system. For the gearbox to work, the battery must naturally be switched on and then charged (the gearbox works even if the assistance mode chosen is OFF of course). Via the display (in color), it is possible to see the level of assistance chosen and also the gear engaged. The precision that electronic shifting has no equal. The wheels are Custom created by DT SWISS for Pivot: Boost front hub while the rear is abnormal: 157 × 12 (super boost). The internal channel is 40mm.

VERSIONS AND COMPONENTS
The Shuttle is produced in only one version, the best of the best out there. Simple. There is no room for the weak of the wallet. The complete assembly, and the price, on the last page.
GEOMETRY
The Shuttle has very interesting geometric dimensions, such as the record-breaking rear stay: only 437mm! Although it remains second behind Rocky Mountain Powerplay. This value is immediately noticeable and allows for delicious manuals. The seat angle quite standing up to 74 ° is very useful for having a not too seated position on the rear and helps us especially in steep climbs and perhaps with high assistance modes so as not to raise the front. The steering angle is 65.8 °, in line with the most aggressive e-bikes on the market. The wheelbase is very low, 1210mm, also a reference value in the category (remember that the bike under test is size L).

THE RESPONSE OF THE TEST
The Pivot Shuttle looks really sexy: ok, these are subjective evaluations but hardly anyone will suck the care of the frame and its components. Every detail is in its place and well cared for. The Shimano engine is great, it pushes a lot and the quietness is average. The only drawback is the non-possibility, via your smartphone / tablet, to customize the Eco mode which in Shimano is too powerful for trained bikers and, if set lower, would save battery due to the Shuttle's excellent climbing skills. Even without engine assistance, the Shuttle rides very well. Staying on the subject of batteries / autonomy, if you usually carry a second battery with you, expect a little patience for the replacement as it is inside the frame and requires the removal of 8 screws using an Allen key. For the aesthetic aspect and to have a lighter structure, Pivot made this choice (see the battery paragraph on the last page of the test). The bike we tested is size L but it proved to be quite compact: in my case the choice would fall on this size (1.75 in height). But let's move on to the real sensations, those on the trail, and here I must say that the Shuttle surprised me positively: an excellent downhill handling, precision, stability, safe in the jumps, it was love at first sight.
DW LINK - Superb integration of the DW Link: attention to detail and rear stay contained at 437mm, reference for the category (only the Rocky Mountain PowerPlay does better).
While with other e-bikes there is an adaptation of the riding technique, here I started in a sling anticipating curves, sketching advances and nose-presses. The very short wagon, and the record weight, make it a reference among e-bikes. On the pure side of stability there are certainly other models at its level, but overall (stability and handling) it emerges. Too bad for the use of the 2-piston Shimano XT. I know that the choice was made for the weight (otherwise how can you declare 19,9 kg?) But a missile of this kind, with a similar size, would have wanted the Saint (remaining in the Shimano house): there would have been a weight increase on 100 / 150gr but another story because here the braking power is needed and the XTs clash and, in certain situations, give less safety. Even uphill, the Shuttle climbs well thanks to an excellent damping pattern and plus tires, which help keep it always in traction. We had no contact problems with the Shimano motor which went wrong: ok, we often use test bikes that may be mistreated, it may be dirt, it may be the battery in bad shape, but this "experience" with the company's engine has happened to us several times Japanese. It seems right to point this out. While pedaling, the electronic gearbox is appreciated, it does not miss a beat and is super precise in its operation: however, be careful not to run out of charge since the gearbox is powered by the main battery. It is not smart, because running out of battery is not a hypothesis to be excluded and as long as you have to pedal with your own legs it is fine (also because the Shuttle is excellent at this juncture) but if you also put in the impossibility of changing relationships becomes tough. Downhill, in addition to being very performing and concrete, it remains fun and also allows well-made manuals, which is difficult with other e-bikes.

Verdict
REFERENCE IN THE EMTB WORLD
Pivot has produced a truly excellent model: innovative solutions and quality of materials, bring it, on average, 2 / 3kg below the top models of other brands. The whole geometry / shock absorbing pattern is superb: sensitive to small / medium impacts and substantial in the most violent bottoms. A reference in the E-Bike world, to be recommended to everyone: beginners, experts ... cross countristi! The only obstacle is the price: quality pays dearly, now it's up to you to decide the price of your passion.
