Tested the Omstrip tapes, Kinesiology tapes for taping

More and more athletes are using it in MTB and beyond: but what is it? Just a fashion?

An aid to balance the body, this is the function of the OmStrip tapes that I had the opportunity to try for a few days; both in downhill sessions and in pedaled workouts.

What is FIR technology?

Omstrip f7 is a device that combines FIR technology with precise biostimulating frequencies.

Fir means Far Infrared Ray, which is the far infrared rays that are emitted by the sun, but not visible to the naked eye. Our body also produces a minimal amount of FIR, which consists of a solar spectrum that captures the thermal radiation it emits, transforming it into energy for the cells of our body.

This technology is joined by 7 frequencies that start from a basal value close to 2,5 Herz and which have the function of improving physical well-being.

The testimony of De Bertolis

Massimo De Bertolis is a former Italian biker specialized in long distances. He won the 2004 UCI Mountain Bike Marathon World Championships in Bad Goisern, Austria. In addition to countless victories at national level, he excelled in the first round of the 2005 UCI XCM World Cup and finished 5th overall. He is now Team Manager of the Wilier Pirelli Team.

RABENSTEINER AND LUCA BRAIDOT

Fabian Rabensteiner won the title European a few weeks ago and we know he uses OmStrip on a daily basis. The secret of victory? As reported by De Bertolis, there is no magic wand, but many pieces put together give an advantage. Luca Braidot also made use of it in his victory at Lenzerheide.

OMSTRIP SPORT

It is certainly the product that interests us most, its function is to improve the control of the athletic gesture and the management of loads. It allows a better recovery also thanks to a more effective sleep, optimizes blood circulation and generally muscle performance.

PROOF

As stated, I tried these tapes both in the situations typical of the descent, at the PìPiana di Vigezzo, and during some outings pedaled on the road; in order to verify the possible benefits in the two different situations.

On the road the feeling is to have an easier and more instinctive pedaling gesture; on the plain this translates into a smoother pedal stroke, as if internal resistance were reduced. In what are the dynamics of gravity, the perception was similar; or better body balance, combined with greater ease of movement.

If in the road tests there was an objective value on which to base, the speed on the plains; defining data regarding the descent is more complicated, but the feeling of general well-being produced allows you to drive more relaxed and with greater safety.
