Full test of the Northwave Celsius XT Arctic GTX: comfort, insulation, Gore-Tex waterproofing and Jaws Evo grip. Here's how it performs on winter trails after several weeks of testing.

High-quality mountain bike with pedals and suspension, on mountain trails, surrounded by nature.
Ride nature with this mountain bike, perfect for adrenaline and adventures on mountain trails.

TECHNICAL PRESENTATION

The winning synergy

The Celsius XT Arctic GTX is born from the union of two technologies that work in perfect harmony towards a common goal: redefining winter comfort in the saddle.
The membrane Gore-Tex Cirrus XT 4L and the padding Primaloft Gold 200 g Eco guarantee an ideal mix of total protection, thermal insulation and breathability, even on the coldest and wettest days.

Designed to move

The low-cut neoprene gaiter, featuring a heat-sealed zip, improves freedom of movement at the ankle without sacrificing protection from the elements.

Grip without compromise

The sole Jaws Evo combines:

  • excellent traction on slippery terrain,
  • stability during walking,
  • XC performance when you push on the pedals.

The system Flexi It provides a natural roll when walking, while the arch support optimizes power transmission in the saddle.

Fit precise to the millimeter

The closure X-Dial SLW3 ensures a quick and precise adjustable micro-fit for a stable and comfortable fit.

Featured visibility

As per Northwave tradition, one eye is always turned towards safety: inserts HiViz Reflective ensure maximum visibility in low light conditions.

FIELD TEST – Impressions after several weeks

With the arrival of autumn, it's time to explore new technical materials. I began this journey by testing the new Northwave Celsius XT Arctic GTX, the most versatile shoe in the winter range. Weeks of testing have confirmed its wide range of uses: perfect for those looking for XC performance, but also for lovers ofHiking who want a stable, warm and reliable product.

Comfort and ease of fit

Despite the neoprene gaiter, the fit is surprisingly easy. Once closed, the Celsius wraps the foot evenly, offering a very pleasant stability without pressure points.

Sole and ground behaviour

The Jaws Evo sole has shown an excellent grip, especially in this season when leaves, landslides and wet ground test your balance.
The wide footprint increases the feeling of safety, while the slightly flexible forefoot (a solution already seen on the Hammer Plus) significantly improves walking comfort.

Protection from external agents

Gore-Tex proves to be a guarantee: no infiltration, no sensation of cold or humidity.
Primaloft, for its part, keeps the internal microclimate stable: always warm and dry feet, even on longer outings in the rain or fog.

Internal space and smooth pedaling

The overall volume around the foot is excellent: it allows for a smooth pedalling action. round and fluid, a quality not always taken for granted in winter footwear, which is often bulkier.

Performance in the saddle and on foot

The stiffness of the sole ensures effective power transfer, but without taking away the sensitivity needed to steer the bike with precision.
During the walking sections and during the portage phases the shoe proved to be stable, safe and very progressive.

???? Conclusions

La Northwave Celsius XT Arctic GTX it's a winter shoe complete and convincing, perfect for those who ride year-round. Warm, waterproof, stable, comfortable, and with a sole that provides safety even on the most technical or slippery sections.

It's November… and this would really be the perfect Christmas present to find under the tree.
