LEATT Enduro 3.0 Test | Open-Full Jet Helmet: definitive solution?

Leatt has produced a 3 in 1 helmet: open face, full face and jet in the same model. We tried it and can tell you if it's worth it.

leatt enduro 3-0 modular helmet

Leatt continues to push and innovate in the MTB environment: one of the latest creations is the Enduro 3.0 helmet, i.e. the possibility of having 3 products in a single helmet. Winner of the prestigious Design & Innovation Award 2023, the 3.0 Enduro helmet once again confirms Leatt's constant commitment to protecting the rider.

FEATURES LEATT ENDURO 3.0

  • 360° Turbine Technology
  • Fidlock magnetic closure system
  • Reduces the acceleration of brain rotation by up to 40%
  • Removable chin guard
  • Lightweight polymer shell
  • Powerbridge construction for added durability
  • 360° Turbine Technology safety technology
  • Micro-adjuster in the back for a perfect fit
  • Pocket for sunglasses to store

The 3.0 Enduro's chin guard is ASTM certified and offers maximum impact protection. Like all Leatt helmets, it is also equipped with 360° Turbine Technology. The turbine discs, positioned on specific areas of the shell, absorb energy in the event of an impact, reducing the risk of concussion and rotational acceleration of the head.

Comes standard with ear protectors and chin guard. The chin guard is ASTM F1952-10 certified, the most severe for downhill use. 20 vents with internal channeling, the internal lining is anti-odor as well as removable and washable. The visor adjusts to three positions with quick detachment to increase safety. The rear extractor channels that act as glasses holders. On the back of the neck we find the classic knob adjustment while the chin strap is of the Fidlock magnetic type.

Three sizes for head circumferences between 51 and 63 cm, Leatt provides a set of additional padding and cheek pads of different thicknesses (8 and 15 mm, 10 and 20 mm as standard).

Leatt's 360° Turbine technology: the internal part of the helmet rotates in the event of an impact. This safety device reduces acceleration due to rotational impacts by up to 40%, and the consequent risks of concussion. Leatt 3.0 enduro weighs, in open-face configuration, 458gr. The Jet configuration weighs 584gr while the full-face one weighs 715gr.

CHANGING FROM OPEN/JET/FULL FULL [VIDEO]

Switching from one setup to another is simple and requires no special skills. The systems hook up via a side button and a hook on the outside that serves to keep the structure fixed. Maybe the first few times it can be cumbersome, like any operation in this world, but after a few attempts you get the hang of it and it's easy and fast. (the video was taken as soon as the helmet arrived: this was the first complete attempt at the switch).

RESPONSE OF THE TEST

The helmet has a lightweight structure that is always well under 3.0 kg in weight, even in the full-face version: starting from the open, the fit is good, as is the breathability. The only point is that the large visor, on days with a lot of wind, tends to have a sailing effect and cause the helmet to lift slightly. In fact, Leatt's Enduro XNUMX model sits a bit high on the head: it's not uncomfortable but you can feel that it doesn't fit very well.

The JET version proves to be one of the most comfortable: very protective and, in case of cold days, very useful by protecting ears and limiting cold flows. The fact that, if you want to take off your glasses for a climb, you can store them in the special housing on the back of the helmet (in all 3 "modes") is very welcome: practically the 2 low rear air intakes have a direction such that the temples of the glasses fit perfectly. Of course there may be models that are more or less comfortable, but I have tested it with various brands of glasses and had no problems.

And finally the integral configuration: the whole set-up remains under 800gr, therefore light, and the fit is good. There are no strange pressures and the helmet fits very well. It makes you feel protected, even in the case of a bike park. And, no small advantage, it is well ventilated given the many air intakes and the chin guard that is ventilated in various points.

PROJECTED IMPACT

The Leatt product is excellent for the enthusiast who practices MTB at different levels, without having to buy a helmet for each discipline. The full-face version has a low weight (715gr) and also makes it excellent for competitive use although, as a good thoroughbred biker knows, the full-face versions still offer a slightly better fit and a feeling of higher protection. Good ventilation in all configurations. Price of €269: you pay for innovation. If you need a configuration for both budget and "logistical" reasons, the Leatt MTB 3.0 Enduro helmet is the solution you were looking for.

COLORS

At the price of 289,00 Euros, it is a mix of technology, safety, comfort and quality, suitable for riders of all disciplines and all levels. For more information: leatt. com

[email protected] I am a fan of everything that has 2 wheels: at a young age I practiced road and track cycling (Italian Allievi champion). At the age of 18 I passed into the cross country competing at national/international level as an Under23. Past Elite, I made the choice to take things more lightly from a training point of view, and my love for gravity disciplines was born, training me as an FCI MTB instructor and guide. Now I have made passion my profession by managing 2 MTB centers on the island of Elba (Bike Center Elba and Elba MTB), creating the FANTAmtb and telling in an ironic but professional way everything that revolves around MTB thanks to 365mountainbike and 365TV (YouTube'PULITI dentro BIKER fuori').
