All-mountain e-bikes are becoming increasingly popular among those looking for a versatile vehicle, capable of combining fun climbs with exciting descents. In this test we tried a Haibike with mullet geometry, equipped with components designed to offer reliability and fun. We took it on the technical trails of Cusio, putting it to the test on steep climbs and challenging descents. Here's how it performed.
The bike
The bike I tested is a size L, indicated by Haibike for bikers 78 meters tall and above. With my 176 cm I was afraid of being “out of size”, instead the riding position turned out to be well balanced: no difficulty in adjusting, good feeling of support on the contact points and a comfortable torso position. A useful observation for those who, despite not being very tall, have a long torso or prefer a stretched out position: size L could be a choice to consider.

For the setup, Haibike has chosen a concrete setup, aiming for substance. The bike is equipped with a fork and mono RockShox entry-level, ideal for hiking use: few adjustments, but immediate and easy to set even for less expert bikers.
The electronic gear change is precise and well-tested, while the 4-piston Magura brakes guarantee power and modulation, always ready even on the most challenging descents.
The only flaw in the setup? The Schwalbe Magic Mary tires, which turned out to be a bit of a weak point, especially on very rough and wet terrain.

The test
I had the opportunity to carry out a long and complete test, which allowed me to take this Allmtn on every type of trail, including an epic trail on the Quarna mountains that you can find HERE. This opportunity helped me to better understand the geometry of this E-bike and to get used to its behavior, so that I could give an honest opinion on its functioning.
Uphill
I love starting from the sensations of climbing, even on an e-bike with generous travel: it is the moment when you really understand how a bike manages to combine engine, geometry and weight distribution.
During our outings on the mule tracks of Cusio (Quarna area), the riding position proved to be excellent: well-balanced, it allows you to push on the pedals by integrating muscular effort with the assistance of the engine.

The mullet geometry (29” front, 27.5” rear) proved to be appreciated on the tightest and most technical hairpin bends, where the smaller rear wheel provides agility and makes changes of direction easier.
Some uncertainty only in the fastest sections or where more grip would be needed, probably more due to the tires than the geometry itself.
Even after several hours in the saddle on long technical climbs, no pain in the lumbar area: a sign that the position is well designed for prolonged use.

The engine
The engine support was one of the most convincing aspects. The modes Eco e Tour They offer a progressive and easily manageable thrust, ideal for tackling technical climbs without sudden jolts.
In mode eMTB e Turbo, the thrust becomes more decisive and brutal: excellent for those who love to accelerate or tackle steep but regular ramps.
The autonomy is truly remarkable: on 4-hour outings with about 1500 meters of positive altitude difference, there was still 40% of the battery left, a figure that will make those who love long excursions happy.
Finally, the removable battery is a plus for those who live in areas at risk of theft.
Downhill
With an all-mountain bike you can have fun going uphill, but the downhill is the real test.
The mullet geometry confirms its strong point: the bike is agile in tight spaces, quick in changes of direction and precise in series of broken curves.

In the more difficult sections – such as intense rock gardens or challenging steeps – I noticed some uncertainty in the stability of the front end, probably linked both to the slightly large size and to the hydraulics of the RockShox Lyric fork, which was unable to fully exploit the quality of the frame.
The rear carriage, on the other hand, worked impeccably: always reactive and capable of absorbing impacts well, restoring confidence even on the roughest sections.

I especially liked it when exiting curves, where the well-designed levers gave that extra energy that allowed me to pump the bike by accelerating even without pedaling.
Conclusions
A bike fun, agile and well balanced, which expresses its best on technical trails, thanks to a geometry that favours handling.
The rear triangle is a strong point for reactivity and stability, while the fork hydraulics, although sufficient for bikers with average skills, could prove to be a limitation on extreme routes.
The motor offers modulable support and excellent autonomy, making this Haibike an ideal companion for long and demanding explorations.
Recommended for those looking for a all mountain e-bike with a versatile character and a fun ride, without sacrificing comfort when climbing.
