GIANT HAS RENEWED HIS TRAIL BIKE. A DEVELOPMENT THAT HAS A LONG PERIOD OF MANAGEMENT LASTED TWO YEARS, DURING WHICH EVERY DETAIL WAS DEVELOPED IN THE BEST WAYS. REFINED DESIGN, 115MM OF EXCURSION TO THE REAR, WHICH SEEMS DEFINITELY MORE, AND AN OUTSTANDING MULTI-PURPOSE THAT MAKES IT A TRULY ALL-ROUND BUT FUNNY MEANS.
Let's start with the aesthetic aspect, the first that you notice when looking at the bike. The right adjective to describe the Trance Advance pro is elegant, the double black color, with simple blue details give the bike a refined and discreet presence. In addition to aesthetics, however, there has been a great deal of substance. The master scheme, Giant's real strength and stylistic code, has been completely revised to give the bike a more progressive and sensitive feeling to allow better response on small bumps and more active work even when braking. The feeling now is to have more than 115mm of travel. The upper link of the shock absorbing system is made of carbon made with Advance force Composite Technology.

FEATURES
The upper connecting rod with these characteristics, lighter and more robust, is present on all models whether they are in carbon or aluminum. On the high-end model we tested, there is the mono DVO. The collaboration with the Californian brand went beyond the development of the ammo, in fact Bryson Martin also followed the growth of the Maestro system. Specifically, the shock absorber is the Topaz 2 T3 with 45 mm of travel and 3 possible block adjustments: descent, traction and ascent. The development of this mono went hand in hand with the evolution of the project, the engineers of Giant together with Bryson worked on a hundred combinations of blades among which they chose 4 different solutions, one for each size of the bike, so to ensure uniform working of the wagon even by changing the size of the biker. The same settings were then also requested from Fox in order to use the same philosophy on the other models as well. The collaboration with DVO did not stop at the single shock absorber, in fact even the fork is a Sapphire and has been redesigned to meet the needs of the Trance project. The stems have been raised to 34 mm and the offset is 44 mm. In this case, the Ott system, which makes the fork more sensitive, has different calibrations depending on the size of the bike.
EQUIPMENT
The Trance Advanced Pro 29 range consists of three models. The one at the top, the protagonist of our test and named, costs 7.999 euros, version 1 costs 4.799 and version 2 has a price of 4.299 euros. The Frameset is available at a price of 2.999 euros. All Trance are equipped with Trx wheels with carbon rim. The hub of the bike in question is a derivation of the DT Swiss 240 while on all other models it will derive from the 360 model. you have a good leg. But since this is a bike to be used even on long climbs, a 10 would have been better, which will instead be supplied on the other models. The brakes are the Guide Sr, while the seat post on the vehicle in question is the Rock Shox Reverb.

GEOMETRIE
Being a 'total' bike, we wanted to take it around the Alps, Alpine passes well above 3000 meters, such as those of the Alta Val Formazza and different bike parks such as those of Cervinia and Bardonecchia. So we wanted to use it in all conditions, just to be able to give a judgment that was as objective and exhaustive as possible of the different possibilities that the bike offers. Uphill the position is comfortable and allows an excellent work of the legs, both in thrust and in traction. Even after long climbs, whether on dirt roads or mountain paths, we did not have back problems, a sign that the weight distribution guaranteed the correct activation of all the muscle chains and a synergistic work of the whole body. The only drawback is the mono adjustment, which even in the 'firm' position tended to bump a lot when the pedaling frequency exceeded 70 rpm. This is a detail that must certainly be improved on a bike with these characteristics. Traction was excellent in all conditions, both on the traces full of steps and where gravel was present, the bike still rose and floated very well. As always, time references are also taken on some known uphill stretches, in order to have objective values. This vehicle is slightly inferior to the full bikes specific for Xc and Marathon in the sliding sections, while on the more bumpy ones the fight is on an equal footing. Downhill the bike is exalted and with it also its rider. The vehicle has passed every type of track very well and in some cases even exceeded expectations. On the alpine paths, narrow and full of natural roughness and large stones, it gave a notable feeling of safety, absorbing any roughness and allowing a smooth and always controlled ride. Only in the steepest and most battered sections did you realize you had only 130 mm of travel with slightly closed corners. On the obverse, the typical characteristic of the 29 was also supported by an excellent smoothness of the hubs and the work of the rims, which are really less rigid than the old editions. On the jumps, whether natural or artificial, the bike was stable and very central, the lightness of the vehicle also helped when it was necessary to correct a little before landing. In curves with sides with closed arches the conduction was excellent, the rigid and precise front made it possible to trace the direction of entry with the rear end following without disruption, guaranteeing an exit under acceleration. On the other hand, he suffered a little from the wide radius corners to be done at speed and the bumps that form at corner entry. The fork confirms the good that was said about the Diamond, great ability to absorb small bumps and to become progressive thus allowing a 'front' ride and optimal handling. The combination of ammo and maestro system guarantee stability in every situation, the feeling is Verdict

The ring has been totally redesigned, to make it more robust and less rigid than the previous one. The internal channel is 30mm and the gouge 'tooth' profile is 3,5mm
RESPONSE OF THE TEST
If Giant was looking for a total bike, he reached the goal. There are some details that should be improved, the mono bobba a little, perhaps the 32 chainring on this type of bike is a bit too much and you could imagine mounting 200 discs at the front given the downhill performance it showed. But we are talking about given to him. The bike expresses itself well in all situations, never showing worrying limits. A bike capable of climbing even on climbs that exceed two hours and be led downhill is the ideal vehicle for those who interpret the bike only in a recreational key, more stable and safer downhill than an Xc full bike, lighter than an enduro, the Trance is the perfect compromise for those who love long rides on their bike or use it as a means of work.

Verdict
A MULTI-PURPOSE VEHICLE
Giant did a great job. I think that all those who are looking for a multipurpose vehicle without aiming for the ranking will find in the Trance a perfect weapon, whether they come from the world of Marathon or that of the enduro.
