The MT500 Burner clipless mountain bike shoe features Ergonomistry™ (EGM) Tech, developed in collaboration with renowned physiotherapist and ergonomist Phil Burt.
The flexible profile has been specifically designed to provide support and control through the pedals and an EGM insole is included to ensure your feet remain comfortable and secure. Designed to handle wear and tear, a reinforced toe and heel provide added protection and an EVA midsole helps absorb shock.
The tread is aggressive for good traction off the bike. On the toe and heel, the tessellation has a different texture with a specific compound (StickyFoot Dura), which offers superior resistance given that here the shoe is more subject to impacts and wear. In the central part, the tessellation has a closer pattern with a softer compound (StickyFoot Grip).
Adjustability of the Cleat Box
The MT500 Burner clipless mountain bike shoe benefits from a decentralized cleat with greater longitudinal adjustment (one of the most generous channels for fixing the cleat). This allows for a wide range of position options, allowing each rider to place their foot on the pedal exactly where they want.
The ankle area is higher on the inside (and denser) to help protect the ankle from impacts on the cranks. There is also a SharkSkin lining in the heel area with an anti-slip function, thus keeping the foot firmer and avoiding lifting the foot both when walking and pedaling. Traditional laces and an additional Velcro® strap secure your feet in place.
FIELD TEST
From the first approach, the new Endura MT500 Burner Clipless shoes are comfortable and essential: be careful to adjust the position of the cleats well as the generous channel can be misleading. The weight is normal for an enduro product, thanks to the clever use of PU upper and EVA midsole with nylon support. A special thing is the double set of laces supplied, both of which are mounted directly on the shoes (and therefore, once you have chosen the colour, you have to waste some time to "re-tie" everything).
The heel is solid and comfortable, with the foot holding its position well when pushing and walking. They are not super rigid shoes but the structure still remains solid for enduro use: the MT500 therefore do not tire the foot too much during walking phases or, simply, on long bike rides (for example mountain tours). This brings another advantage, namely the excellent sensitivity you have on the pedal, easily perceptible.
Over the course of these 2 months of testing, the entire shoe has held up very well, showing only signs of normal wear. Good drying properties once wet.
HOW MUCH DO MT500 ENDURA SHOES COST?
In Italy they are offered at the list price of €159,99 (€149,999 for the Flat model).
PROJECTED IMPACT
Excellent shoes recommended for all-mountain/Enduro use. It's difficult to find any real flaws: these are very functional shoes that get straight to the point. If you want shoes that are durable but not extreme in terms of rigidity, these MT500s are for you.
