Those who choose to ride an all mountain mtb love the ascent as much as the descent. Or rather, he loves being able to climb anywhere, without any limits whatsoever and without the help of the mechanical ascent systems, and he wants to have fun on the descent, without any technical limitations.

All mountain, therefore, is the realm of maximum versatility. In this sector, driving force for the mtb industry on a global level, there are the most versatile bikes, those suitable for the various needs of off-road hiking understood in its broadest sense. These vehicles are not born to follow the chronometer, as happens for Xc, Enduro or Dh bikes, which are very fast, but only in certain contexts and inevitably pay duty in all the others.
All-mountain bikes were created to give maximum freedom to roam autonomously and happily up and down the mountains. They must therefore be e ective uphill but also fun downhill, light but reliable,
fast but easy to drive.
Characteristics evidently antithetical to each other and not always easy to summarize. Perhaps this is also why there are also important differences between one model and another.
Starting from the diameter of the wheels up to the suspensions and relative excursions. Modern technology has brought shock absorbers with variable travel and suspension, systems for autosag and remote controls, variable steering angles and dropper posts. All in the name of the maxim
versatility, which is certainly an added value in this sector, but does not always rhymes with reliability and ease of use. That in the off road, better not to forget, are always fundamental values.
Having identified a base excursion between 130 and 150mm we have therefore chosen six models for this comparison. In truth, without prejudice to geometry and set-up suitable for all mountain (often more
of the excursion itself), we chose them more for their differences than for what they have in common.
