Fizik Vento Proxy: shoes for pedaling in style

Fizik footwear stands out for its style. Original color lines, very personal shoe design, combined with a technological level of the highest quality

This Vento proxy fits fully into this trend. A shoe created for intense Gravel and XC use dedicated to those looking for a stylish shoe, with a decidedly personal line that stands out, without sacrificing anything regarding the transmission of energy to the pedals.

The technology

An innovative upper made of a translucent PU laminate, which has made it possible to obtain a lightweight, highly breathable shoe capable of withstanding the typical stresses of off road.

A detail of the laminated upper that also highlights the most breathable features

As regards the closure, however, they relied on the well-tested system Boa Li2 also using the lace guides from the same company. There is a single ratchet with the distribution of passage points which allow the closure to be distributed as best as possible on the foot without eliminating high contact points.

Boa tightening guarantees maximum reliability

However, the real heart of an XC shoe remains the midsole, an element that allows the biker to best transmit his watts. For this shoe they relied on the X3 model in composite material completely redesigned for this model.

The notched part is well distributed both in the front part and on the heel, guaranteeing maximum grip even in moments of greatest push

Excellent grip in the sections where you have to descend and the X3 midsole in thermo material is very good

The test

I clocked up a few miles between spring and early summer, even using them outside their comfort zone during the Scott Ransom test of which you will have already read the details.

A lightweight shoe, a soft upper that fits perfectly. This Vento Proxy wraps you perfectly and the closure tightens evenly, without any point of excessive pressure, while guaranteeing an excellent hold even when the foot is pulled.

The freedom of movement of the ankle is optimal, as is the ability to transmit our energy to the pedals. From this point of view, the X3 midsole in composite material works excellently. Even during heavy use you never have the feeling of too much stress on the muscles of the arch of the foot, not even after having tightened our boa firmly, or on the long descents that characterized our test.

Plantar support

In an article from a few months ago, you find here, we have explored the fundamental topic of plantar support and how supporting the arch can guarantee better muscle activation and consequently greater push on the pedals. In this shoe there is a small support which is placed near the metatarsals and helps to reduce the deformation of the arch itself to the advantage of thrust. The first sensation is a bit annoying, but you get used to it quickly and during pedaling you perceive the advantage and the better activation of the muscular chain of the leg.

Conclusions

I really liked this Fizik vento proxy. It combines a personal look with excellent quality materials, managing to do its job very well, that is, transmitting our energy to the pedals.

A shoe suitable for those who want to push on the pedals while maintaining an extra touch of originality. There are three different colors, in addition to the model being tested, that is Sky Blue Reflective, there is also another very personal version, namely the Coral Purple and two more traditional ones, a total black it's one white

A shoe created for those who love to push to the max, both in MTB and Gravel, with a very intriguing aesthetic side.
