For the first time La Thuile hosted a race Downhill of the World Cup, and it did so with a completely new and highly spectacular track, which in a few days became one of the most talked about topics on the circuit.
With an average gradient of -27%, 2,3 km of development and 641 m of negative elevation gain, the track has undergone more than 2.500 passages and has changed from hour to hour. Curves carved into the terrain, technical jumps, natural sections and a unique development: a new point of reference for international DH also according to many riders.
"During practice and qualifying the track changed, each lap required a different interpretation. It was not a race like the others - I was sitting in first position until the end but Jackson was simply so fast. I had a lot of fun and I'm happy to finish second right here in La Thuile!" – said the reigning World Champion and ambassador of La Thuile Bike World Loris Vergier.
The track manager Enrico Martello, visibly satisfied, thanked the entire local team for the work done on the routes that are the heart of the event: «It was a challenging project like never before, but to complete a double event with this result is an immense satisfaction. I thank all the staff of the builders and all those who were committed to the creation of the race track.»
