Mathieu van der Poel won again: he waited until the end of the race with 2 determined attacks and went on to win the last cyclocross World Cup race in Hoogerheide.
The world champion tried to go solo with 3 laps to go, but Nys managed to respond to his attack and Nieuwenhuis also caught up with them. This stopped Van der Poel's momentum and he bet everything on the final part of the race.

GENERAL CLASSIFICATION
A WINNING ITALIAN AMONG THE JUNIORS
A feat by the 17-year-old from Friuli, who dominated the last test and, thanks to the simultaneous fourth place of the Frenchman Sparfel, took home the final general classification.
Stefano Viezzi wins the last round of the Cyclocross World Cup in Hoogerheide and, thanks to the fourth place of the Frenchman Sparferl, also conquers the final ranking of the UCI challenge. The 17-year-old from Friuli (he will become an adult on February 5) had to accomplish a small feat to regain possession of the leader's jersey after sixth place eight days ago which had pushed him back into the general ranking. In addition to the victory, in fact, it was also necessary that the Frenchman did not go better than third place.
Stefano led the match from start to finish, in an obvious attempt to put his direct opponent in difficulty. An undertaking which was perfectly successful and which also represents a good start eight days before the world championship in Tabor. At the finish line the Friulian overtook the Dutch Remijn who outsprinted the two Frenchmen Simon and Sperfel. Overall, the Italian is back in the lead with a five-point advantage over the European champion. At this point the Tabor world championship will represent the third opportunity for confrontation between the two great protagonists of the season. Mattia Gagliardoni came fifteenth, Ettore Fabbro seventeenth and Lorenzo Longhi nineteenth.
