Nino Schurter he won his ninth World Cup by finishing in 14th place after a less than brilliant start. The Swiss veteran fought his way up from 31st place to take the title in a race in which he also stopped with a chain drop.
Nino's rival in the cup, Jordan Sarrou (Team BMC), managed to maintain his second place overall by finishing in 9th place despite Matthias Flückiger (Thömus Maxon) putting him under pressure until the end in terms of scoring.
The Swiss rider led for much of the race, often dismounting his bike cyclocross style. Despite two punctures, he remained in the fight for victory until the end. But the victory of the day went to the Olympic and UCI world champion Tom Pidcock (Ineos Grenadiers) who ran an intelligent technical race making as few mistakes as possible. The lead was around 26 seconds over Flückiger. It was the second Olympic XCO World Cup victory of the season.

Best of the Italians was Juri Zanotti (BMC) who finished in an excellent 11th place. Filippo Fontana (Carabinieri – Olympia) also did well, 22nd.
