In the early afternoon the Italian Team Relay Championship took place which featured six mixed teams competing for the national title on the historic (although recently renovated) Lomosano course. Five laps were scheduled, and the Scott Racing Team made things clear already with the first competitor Elia Rial who immediately created an important gap. Lorenzo Trincheri, Giulia Rinaldoni and Giada Martinoli then increased the advantage over the other teams before the last lap entrusted to the legs of Matteo Siffredi, who closed the race with a good 1'40'' from Cristian Bernardi of the Trinx Factory Team, who came second . Closing out the podium was the Lee Cougan Banca Prealpi San Biagio team, arriving 2'40'' behind the winners.
These are the words of Giada Martinoli, fourth member of the Scott Racing Team and leader of the Junior general classification of the Internazionali d'Italia Series: “Today was a test in preparation for tomorrow. Yesterday trying the route I hurt my ankle, but this morning I did everything I could to calm the pain and be competitive for this day dedicated to the Italian Championships, a race in which everyone's work counted, where I couldn't afford to ruin the happened to the team due to my distraction. So I gritted my teeth and gave it my all. Each of us did everything we could and managed to win this shirt. Now I plan to rest in view of the last stage of the Internazionali d'Italia Series tomorrow where there are many foreigners registered and it will be an excellent opportunity for me to compare myself with them and put myself to the test. The aim is to have fun and defend the shirt.“
This is what Elia Rial, the first to start among the new Italian champions, comments: “Winning the tricolor jersey is always a great satisfaction, it is my first year with the team and I am happy with the climate that has been created. Tomorrow I will try to maintain second position in the general classification of the Internazionali d'Italia Series, even if it will be very difficult because the course is hard and it is quite hot.”
Finally, the words of Lorenzo Trincheri, second member of the winning team: “This is an anomalous weekend for me because I normally practice another specialty, the marathon, and short and explosive races are not my strong point. Today, however, I gave my best and I am very satisfied with my performance. I'm happy to have won the tricolor jersey, which is the first for me. I will try to give my best on Saturday too."
