The Absa Cape Epic 2024 began with its usual prologue day. 26 km and 700 meters of altitude difference on the extremely dry terrain of the Lourensford Wine State.
Nino Schurter and Sebastian Fini represent the union of two of the world’s best XCO riders and today’s effort was the closest thing to an XCO. The World Bicycle Relief-competing pair set the fastest times by 2 seconds over the Toyota-Specialized-NinetyOne team of Matt Beers and Howard Grotts.
In the women's category, this first stage brought a predictable victory for the Ghost Factory Racing team, an XCO World Cup team with outstanding athletes Anne Terpstra and Nicole Keller.
