Tom Pidcock returned to mountain bike racing and did so in the best possible way: with a victory. Third place went to another Briton, Charlie Aldridge, who finished 52 seconds behind the two-time Olympic champion in the discipline. The Italians also performed well: Luca Braidot and Simone Avondetto finished fifth and tenth, respectively, 1'16" and 1'44" behind.
