FEMALE ELITE

The World Cup cross-country The women’s short track (XCC) saw Italy’s Chiara Teocchi (Orbea Factory Team) and Switzerland’s Jolanda Neff (Trek Factory Racing-Pirelli) get off to a fast start to battle it out on the short opening lap, before US native Batten showed her intentions with a quick move into the lead, following her strong showing in last week’s Olympic XCO World Cup in Mairiporã.

Batten crossed the line to take his first win of the season, four seconds ahead of Indergand. Blunk outsprinted Keller to take third place, with Richards crashing just before the finish line, only managing ninth place.

After the race, Batten took the overall lead, with Richards second and Keller third.

MALE ELITE

It was another fast and furious battle between a huge field of contenders in the Men's Olympic XCO World Cup. Chilean Martín Vidaurre (Specialized Factory Racing), who played a major role in last week's race, led the pack at the front, but it was Britain's Charlie Aldridge (Cannondale Factory Racing) who really powered the race. However, as soon as Aldridge opened a small gap, he crashed, losing the lead, and about 16 riders pushed for him in a group led by Jordan Sarrou (Team BMC).

On the final lap, Koretzky and Sarrou both looked ready to make a move, but it was Mairiporã XCO winner Christopher Blevins (Specialized Factory Racing) who struck, surprising his teammate Koretzky and the others as he made a push up the climb.

The two teammates went head-to-head for the win, and coming into the final straight Koretzky won comfortably over an exhausted Blevins. South African Alan Hatherly (Cannondale Factory Racing) finishes third.

With this victory, Koretzky takes the lead in the general classification, with Gaze in second place and Schwarzbauer in third after two races.

BÖHM AND AMOS UNBEATEN IN THE U23

Kira Böhm (Cube Factory Racing) and Riley Amos (Trek Factory Racing-Pirelli) both continued to dominate the U23 results in the UCI World Cup Cross-country Short Track (XCC) U23.

The German launched an initial attack and took with her Canadian Emily Johnston (Trek Factory Racing) and another German, Carla Hahn (Lexware Mountainbike Team), but once again showed her strength to win, with Johnston second and Hahn third.

In the men’s race, American Amos beat fellow countryman Bjorn Riley (Trek Future Racing), giving Trek teams a one-two on the podium. Like Böhm, Amos put in another superior performance after winning both the UCI XCC and XCO World Cups in Mairiporã last weekend. Third was Switzerland’s Luke Wiedmann (Thömus maxon).
