In the men's race Flückiger (Thömus Maxon) won his first World Cup of the 2023 season after taking the lead on the second out of seven laps.
The Swiss rider was kept on his toes by the strong Frenchman Thomas Griot (Canyon CLLCTV) who left behind a group of chasers to get within 8 seconds of Flückiger on the penultimate lap. But Flückiger, who looked confident on the technical and wet descents, stretched the gap to take victory by around 23 seconds on the final lap.
Third place was decided in the closing seconds of the race when world champion Thomas Pidcock (Ineos Grenadiers) managed to catch up and pass Jordan Sarrou (Team BMC) ahead of the finishing straight.
The leader of the circuit Nino Schurter (Scott-SRAM MTB Racing Team) lost almost a minute due to a puncture but retains the leader's jersey after managing to finish in 12th place, just behind Luca Braidot who beat him in the sprint.
