Excellent performance by the Italians with Martina Berta finishing in 11th place, Chiara Teocchi in 15th and Giada Specia at 17th.
In the women's race, circuit leader Puck Pieterse (Alpecin-Deceuninck) proved to be in mind-blowing form as she took the race lead from the start line to the finish. She crossed the finish line in sweltering heat with an unassailable lead of 38 seconds over Mona Mitterwallner and 56″ over Laura Stigger.
After double victory yesterday in the UCI Downhill World Cup, Austria continued to show its pedigree in mountain biking by also risking wins in the cross country with Mona Mitterwallner (Cannondale Factory Racing) second and Laura Stigger (Specialized Factory Racing) third.
