The most important Italian Cross Country MTB circuit will be opened by the Pineta Sperane XCO race in San Zeno di Montagna (VR) on March 16. For the fourth consecutive time, the permanent route on the slopes of Monte Baldo will be the scene of the first skirmishes between the names of international cycling who will race on a nervous track, now known for its speed that necessarily requires great technique and skill.
The following week the circuit will move to Tuscany for a new appointment in the Argentario (GR) venue. The completely new route will take place entirely inside a former military base a few steps from the town center and the sea, guaranteeing a show for this already highly anticipated new entry.
After a two-month break, the athletes will return to the race on May 31st at the XCO Del Montello – Rive Degli Angeli Montello (TV). The organizers are currently implementing the already highly spectacular track, which has made the public fall in love with this stage since its debut. A welcome return that combines the historical value of the location with a truly evocative route between Montello and the Piave River.
On June 28th it will be the turn of Alpago Bike Funtastic Lamosano di Chies d'Alpago (BL). A historic track, on which competitions have been held since 1998, and which has seen many athletes grow and take flight. Always characterized by heat and Dolomite scenery, the route winds through the town and the surrounding woods, with technical sections that will project the athletes towards what is expected to be a preview of an eagerly awaited end of the season.
Closing the circuit managed by CM Outdoor will be the Santoporo XC Esanatoglia (MC) track, an event particularly awaited by the public and which last year provided a thrilling finale with the unexpected sprint between Charlie Aldridge, Simon Andreassen and Cameron Orr. The Gina Libani Repetti crossdrome track will become the setting for the final epilogue that promises adrenaline and twists.
All five events will be combined with a national youth competition.
“The calendar is varied and complete,” said Michele Mondini. “We can say we are satisfied with the four confirmations because they demonstrate the commitment of IIS in creating an event that is not limited only to the competition. Our goal has always been to propose a format that creates interest and involvement in the territory, creating synergies and constructive collaborations between the different entities. As for the great novelty of this year, I am happy to have found enthusiasm and initiative on the part of the organizers of Argentario. This is an important basis for signing partnerships that last over time and for always creating something new that involves and excites the public. There is certainly great expectation for this new stage that will include interesting situations, both for the development of the race and for its spectacular nature.”
