Eleonora Farina European DH Champion! Hauser skims the title

In France great news from the Downhill, with the success of the thirty, the second place of the junior from Bolzano and the bronze medals of the junior Sofia Priori and of the U17 Lorenzo Mascherini. Revelli (4th) and Palazzari (5th) are close to the podium among the elites.

Eleonora Flour is the new European champion of Downhill. The 32-year-old from Trentino dominates a match that saw the blues as great protagonists. In sixth place, therefore top 10, also Veronika Widmann. For the group led by Simone Locksmiths a partial revenge of the results of the world championship which, in the light of what the two blue women achieved today, leave a little bitterness in the mouth.

Eleonora was perfect today, setting the best time in all sections and closing the race in 3'42"70. Behind her came the Slovenian Monika Hrastnik (at 4″89), third was the Swiss Lisa Baumann (at 7″26).

Among the elite men, success of the Frenchman Antoine Vidal, ahead of his compatriot Pierron and the British Craik. Fourth and fifth place respectively for Loris Revelli and David Palazzari, less than a second off the podium.

A nice silver medal, but also a hint of regret for how it arrived, that of the junior Christian Hauser, who gave, right in the final descent, a jersey that seemed to be his to the French Nathan Pontvianne, who overtakes him by 2″21. Behind the boy from Bolzano a long trail of local riders, confirming the great French school and also, however, the feat of the Italian, good at inserting himself in an order of arrival that appeared, on the eve, blocked.

Women's sector downhill in great dust also thanks to the junior Sofia Priors who closes the descent in 4'10"47, 6"64 from the French Lais Bonnaure and takes home a bronze medal. She is second to the other French Emy Grandouller.

Lorenzo Masks, a 16-year-old who rides for ASD After Skull Rogue Racing, in the meantime had given Italy its first medal. The boy from Cuorgné finished his race in 3'24"63, 2"57 behind the new U17 European champion, the French Max Alran.

BLUE BUDGET – The Downhill Italian therefore returns from the continental trip with a rich balance: 1 gold, 1 silver and 2 bronzes (in addition to a series of top 10) which place our country among the first in the medal table dominated, as expected, by France, which basically collected everything he could.

“I congratulate CT Fabbri – commented the president Dagnoni – and to all athletes. We knew we had a competitive group and that the World Championships were unlucky for a number of reasons. I believe that these European Championships are the best answer that the kids could give, demonstrating that our movement is growing in quality and number in this sector as well."
