“I am very happy because after the last stage of the World Cup I knew I was in good condition. It was difficult for me to make the difference on my opponents who are more agile, but in the end I managed to get away with strength,” commented Daniele Braidot. “Filippo didn't have great legs today, so I had my space and I'm happy to have managed to win a stage of the Internazionali d'Italia Series again this year.”

The first stages saw the emergence of a top-level trio composed of Daniele Braidot, Gioele Bertolini and Filippo Fontana. The three immediately created a gap, imposing a sustained pace and collaborating until the fifth of the seven scheduled laps, when Braidot decided to break the ice. Fontana attempted to chase, but was unable to close the gap with his teammate.
Daniele Braidot thus achieved a deserved victory, confirming his excellent form in view of the upcoming international events. Behind him, Filippo Fontana finished in second position, while Bertolini completed the podium.

“I’m very happy. Given how I was the last few days, I didn’t expect to be able to have a better final part of the race, but today the feeling wasn’t bad,” Fontana said. “As a team we brought home a win and a second place, a great result! Now I have a decent lead in the general classification, but I’m particularly keen to do well in the next stage in Lamosano because I’m racing at home.”

ORDER OF ARRIVAL

Under23 Category

Fabio Bassignana (KTM – Protek – Elettrosystem) wins ahead of Martino Zavan (Team Sogno Veneto) and Marco Betteo (Team Sogno Veneto).

The race was immediately very controlled with Fabio Bassignana and Martino Zavan marking each other for a good part of the race. Only during the last lap did Bassignana manage to find the decisive thrust, detaching Zavan and taking a precious victory.

“Our race was very tactical, road style. We studied each other until the end and on the last lap I managed to get the upper hand,” Bassignana explained. “The course suited me very well and I’m happy to have brought home this victory.”

Maria Bertolo, vice president of the Veneto Regional Committee with responsibility for Off-Road, present to award the athletes on the podium, explains: “It is an honor to be here in Nervesa for this magnificent event. I would like to congratulate the entire organization: Pavanello Bike, the Regional Committee and the Veneto Off-Road Commission. Today was truly a beautiful show for the public and for the athletes. We hope that tomorrow the day will be repeated for the youth and master categories.”

Internazionali d'Italia Series will return to Lamosano di Chies d'Alpago on Saturday 28 June for the fourth stage of the main Italian circuit of cross-country MTB.
