The desire is to further enrich a palmares that is starting to get interesting. In 2022 he won the title of Italian XCO Champion, the European title and the World Champion, all in the U23 category. In his two years as an elite, after a long absence due to mononucleosis, he won the title of Italian Champion in Short Track, two podiums in the World Cup and, in the mud of Cheile Gradistei, the title of European XCO elite Champion, the first Italian ever to succeed in the feat, closing the season among the top 10 riders in the UCI ranking.
For me, Wilier-Vittoria represents a second family, the ideal place where I can continue to grow gradually, as has happened so far.. Since I arrived in this great team I have had many great satisfactions, but I have also gone through some difficult moments, such as the interminable mononucleosis that struck me in 2023. In that moment the team always made me feel close to them, not letting me miss anything, and there I understood that I was really in the right place. I can't wait to reciprocate this trust with many great performances on the racetracks all over the world – Simone Avondetto
“Avondetto fully embodies the values of our team: passion, determination and desire to excel - Said Marco Trentin, General Manager of Wilier-Vittoria -. We are proud to continue sharing with him a growth path towards new goals in XCO. The decision to invest in this discipline starting from 2025 comes from the desire to support an athlete with great potential, certain that, with the right support, he can express all his talent in the years to come”.
“Simone has been a fundamental part of our growth in the mountain bike world – added the Gastaldello family -. Over the years we have seen him improve as an athlete, obtaining world-class results. This renewal is part of a broader strategy that wants Wilier Triestina among the most important brands, not only in the road world, but also in the off-road world. In two years we want to be a reference Factory Team in the UCI MTB World Series”.
