In the women's elite race, Mitterwallner (Cannondale Factory Racing) took a second consecutive World Cup win. The Austrian national champion was fantastic as she battled overall leader and 21 year old Puck Pieterse (Alpecin-Deceuninck).

Mitterwallner showed his confidence in the scorching heat of Haute-Savoie by attacking the Dutch cyclist both downhill and uphill. The 2-time marathon world champion built an 18-second lead into the six-lap final and eventually crossed the finish line about 38 seconds ahead of Pieterse.

World champion Pauline Ferrand-Prevot (Ineos Grenadiers) – who missed Friday's Short Track race due to illness – fought hard to take third place in front of her home crowd.
