Mona Mitterwallner (Cannondale Factory Racing) and Matthias Flückiger (Thömus Maxon) took the Elite victory in Pal Arinsal, Andorra. The win was his first UCI Mountain Bike XCO World Cup win, and he proved he was in control both on the climbs and on the super slimy descents of Andorra.
The 21-year-old marathon world champion attacked the weekend's short-track winner Alessandra Keller (Thömus Maxon), on a freezing, rainy day.
The Austrian national champion continued to attack extending her lead until she crossed the finish line 34 seconds ahead of the Swiss rider. World champion Pauline Ferrand-Prevot (Ineos Grenadiers) had to settle for third place.
Puck Pieterse (Alpecin-Deceuninck) retains the general leader's jersey after finishing the race in seventh place.
