South Africa continues to offer races with global stars of the mode. Alan Hatherly won again in a top class race. If last week was a marathon where we have seen in action Nino Schurter, Alan Hatherly and Victor Koretzky (among others), this Saturday was an XCO race. Hatherly and Koretzky squared off again.
The start of the South African National XCO Cup took place in Coetzenberg, Stellenbosch, on a track with features very familiar to the World Cup riders who were in this same area to compete in 2018, in the game in which Sam Gaze batted Nino Schurter. Although Nino Schurter was among the pre-registered, in the end did not compete.
The race ended in a head to head between Alan Hatherly and Victor Koretzky. Both started as favorites and did not disappoint. The South African biker continues to show he is in top form and took another victory against a quality rival in Koretzky.
Keller was the shining winner of the women's event
The women's race also had a spectacular level, victory went to Alessandra Keller with a narrow lead over Nicole Koller and with Caroline Bohé completing the podium. Anne Terpstra could only be 5th, overtaken by the local Candice Lill. The Ghost Factory Racing team practically participated in full force.
