Marine Cabirou (Canyon CLLCTV Factory Team) repeated their victory at Mont-Sainte-Anne from 12 months earlier, ramping up the speed on the lower sections of the Canadian course and finishing the season in style.
Last weekend, the UCI downhill world champion, Valentina Hell (YT Mob), won her first UCI World Cup of the season and, with it, the overall standings. Höll seemed determined to achieve further success and posted two impressive sections in the first two, building a four-second advantage over Earnest. The Austrian continued to increase her speed on the track, maintaining a 6,5-second lead until a front-wheel puncture forced her to walk the rest of the course.
Meantime , Gracey Hemstreet (Norco Race Division) was looking for her first win at Mont-Sainte-Anne, after finishing second last year. The Canadian started in the lead and was 2,4 seconds faster than the best time before falling at the back.
As he had done 12 months earlier, Cabirou dominated the Canadian course and increased his speed throughout his run, achieving a winning time of 4:01.6.
Nina Hoffman (Santa Cruz Syndicate) won in La Thuile – Valle d'Aosta (Italy) earlier this season and was aiming to finish the season in style. The German rider matched Cabirou's time in the opening sections before finishing just seven-tenths of a second behind.
In the meantime, Camille Blanche (Yeti/Fox Factory Race Team) was in the thick of the battle for the podium in the final race of his career, before crashing.
Myriam Nicole (Commencal/Muc-Off by Riding Addiction), the best qualifier, was hoping to cap off an indifferent season with a victory. The Frenchwoman showed aggression in the technical section, aiming to repeat her UCI World Cup victory on the same course as in 2019. Nicole was four tenths behind after the second sector and had everything to do in the second rock garden. However, the athlete from Commencal/Muc-Off by Riding Addiction finished in third place, 2,2 seconds behind.
After the victory Cabirou declared: “I'm happy to have won today, it's incredible.
“I tried my best all week to get a good result today, as last week wasn't very good for me. Today I had some good races and some really bad ones.
“I'm happy to have won. I couldn't have hoped for a better race to end the season. I made some mistakes during my qualifying and wasn't very satisfied with my performance.
"Today I knew I had a better chance, so I focused on myself and tried to give it my all. I'm really happy to have scored my eleventh win here; I love this track and these fans."
Höll leads the UCI World Cup overall standings, followed by Hemstreet in second and Seagrave in third.
