Last May 2024, Vlad Dascalu had been sentenced to 17 months in prison. for three missed checks in the space of 12 months. After almost two years away from racing, he returned and managed to take this beautiful victory at the Green Series XCO, his first of 2026.
The GREEN SERIES XCO continues to consolidate its position on the national calendar with the second round in Erandio, which once again brought together a top-level group of athletes, both national and international, chasing UCI points and the opportunity to test themselves on technical and authentic mountain bike courses. After the muddy start in Bilbao, the Akarlanda circuit once again offered a challenging course, reinforcing the identity of a championship in which weather always plays a significant role.
In the men's category, Vlad Dascalu took victory on a course that required maximum technical precision. This was his first victory since returning to competition in 2026, confirming the progress he's made since the first races of the season.
Teocchi wins and takes the lead
Teocchi won in Erandio and took the overall lead. In the women's race, victory went to Chiara Teocchi, who managed the track conditions better, winning with a more consistent performance.
The race began with Estibaliz Sagardoy in the lead, maintaining a high pace for the first few laps but eventually succumbing to Teocchi's consistency. Third place went to Iraia Zapirain, who earned her first podium finish in the category.
