From August 25 to 30, 2026, Val di Sole will host the Mountain Bike World Championships for the fourth time in its history (previous ones being 2008, 2016, and 2021): a World Championship week that promises to be a concentration of adrenaline, technique, and passion.
In Daolasa di Commezzadura, in the heart of Italy's first UCI Bike Region, a historic bond is being renewed, one that has made mountain biking much more than a passion, but part of the identity of this area and of Trentino as a whole. The organizers of Grandi Eventi Val di Sole and the International Cycling Union have unveiled the official program for a week that promises to be packed with excitement.
FIVE FORMATS, SEVENTEEN TITLES UP FOR GRABS. THE FIRST MEDALS AWARDED ON WEDNESDAY, THE 26TH.
Seventeen world titles will be up for grabs in Val di Sole, distributed across five different formats: Cross-country Olympic, Cross-country Short Track, Team Relay, Downhill and e-MTB. Seven days where every curve, every jump, every climb or descent can mean the difference between a dream and glory, with the best of the international scene ready to compete on some of the most technical trails in the world.
After the registration of the athletes on Monday 24th August, the UCI Mountain Bike World Championships will be officially inaugurated on Tuesday 25th with the opening ceremony scheduled for 18:00, preceded by the first training sessions. Cross-country and e-MTB, a discipline introduced for the first time at the World Championships during Val di Sole 2021.
Wednesday 26th August will be the day of the first medals: after the traditional track walk – the reconnaissance on foot – on the legendary Black Snake track, scheduled for 8:00 am, the e-MTBs will take centre stage, with the women's race (10:00 am), followed by the men's race (11:30 am). In the afternoon there will be the team competition Cross-country, the Team Relay, with six protagonists from each national team competing: appointment at 17:00 pm.
A HIGH-INTENSITY THURSDAY WITH SHORT TRACK
Thursday 27th August will open with the rehearsals Cross-country for the Junior categories (women at 9.30, men at 11.00), while in the afternoon it will be time for the Short Track, the format that brings the Cross-country and its protagonists on the short distance, also introduced at world level in Val di Sole 2021. A test that is worth not only a rainbow jersey, but also the possibility of earning a privileged position on the starting grid in the Cross-country Olympic on Sunday.
The U23 Women will take to the track in Daolasa at 15:30 PM, followed by the U23 Men at 4:30 PM, the Elite Women at 16:45 PM, and the Elite Men at 17:30 PM. In the evening, there will be side events, with the 18X Pro Series qualifying at 21:00 PM, the most important four-cross competition in the world.
FRIDAY AND SATURDAY: THE BLACK SNAKE IS THE PROTAGONIST
The legendary Black Snake, the track of Downhill most famous in the world, will be under the spotlight starting from Friday 28 August, with the Junior qualifications starting at 10.30 and Elite from 15.30. In the afternoon, space for the little ones with the Cross-Country Kids at 6pm, followed by the Four-Cross (4X) competitions at 9pm and the Val di Sole Bikeland Party at 10pm.
The medals of the Downhill All the races will be assigned on Saturday, August 29th: the program will begin at 09:15 am with the Junior Women, followed by the Junior Men at 10:00 am, the Elite Women at 13:20 pm, and the Elite Men at 15:00 pm. After the awards ceremony, there will be fun with the second evening of the Val di Sole Bikeland Party, starting at 21:00 pm.
SUNDAY 30 AUGUST THE GRAND FINALE WITH THE CROSS-COUNTRY
As per tradition, the grand finale on Sunday 30 August will be dedicated to the Olympic discipline of Mountain Bike, the Cross-country Olympic: The U23 Women will take to the stage at 09:00 a.m., followed by the U23 Men at 11:00 a.m., the Elite Women at 13:00 p.m., and the Elite Men at 15:15 p.m.
