After many attacks and counterattacks, the stage ended with a sprint between the Wilier-Vittoria boys and those of Canyon, with Porro who was good and clever in anticipating his move, keeping Rabensteiner in protection.
"So good! – said Porro -. It was a good fight throughout the stage, first they attacked the Canyons, then the Buff Megamos and finally us after the last refueling. However, we won the victory in the sprint and we were good at playing our cards as best we could. The sensations are excellent and the weather should also improve in the next few days. We must continue on this path."

The Wilier-Vittoria pair is now second in the general classification, 8 seconds behind the pair of Marc Stutzman and Andreas Seewald. “There is already a great understanding with Samuele – added Rabensteiner -. We understand each other almost without having to speak to each other and this, I'm sure, will come in handy in the most important moments. Starting the season like this, after a long winter of preparation, is a great satisfaction."
Excellent signals also came from Daniel Geismayr who, paired with Jakob Dorigoni, closed the first two stages with a double third place. The Austrian, who left the race last year with bad feelings, now occupies third position in the general classification, 1'30” behind the Canyon pair in the lead.
