After 82 kilometers of racing, La Tramun Sea Otter Europe has delivered the verdict on the winners not only of the Spanish competition, but also of the 2025 edition of the UCI Marathon World Cup.

Casey South of Switzerland crossed the finish line first at the expo, beating Samuele Porro and Marc Stutzmann. In the women's race, Poland's Paula Gorycka-Kurmann triumphed over Rosa Van Doorn, while Sweden's Amanda Bohlin took third.
They thus win the general classification of the 2025 HERO UCI Cross-country Marathon World Cup, German Andreas Seewald and Dutch Rosa Van Doorn taking home the trophy of the first edition titled HERO.
As in all the greatest theatrical performances, today in Girona the curtain fell on the stage of the 2025 HERO UCI Cross-country Marathon World Cup, but not before having decreed the verdicts on who, from now on, will be able to boast the prestigious international trophy.
The Costa Brava in Spain hosted the fifth and final round of the UCI World Cup with La Tramun, hosted as part of the Sea Otter Europe trade fair and now in its eighth edition.
125 Elite riders registered for the UCI HERO circuit will start the race Cross-country Marathon World Cup, who competed on an 82-kilometer course with 2.969 meters of elevation gain, made particularly difficult by rain overnight and at times throughout the day, which made the course extremely slippery. It was an extremely demanding event that rewarded the participants' physical condition and the technical skills of the bikers who aimed for the final podium.

With today's eleventh-place finish, German Andreas Seewald of the Singer KTM Racing team takes home 90 points, securing the 2025 HERO UCI Marathon World Cup title: "I'm really happy to have won the World Cup, in a season that saw me triumph at the Hero in the Dolomites and at my home race in the Black Forest. I had a bit of a slump towards the end of the season due to so much racing, but today the important thing was to bring home the result, for myself and for my team," said the new cup winner. "Now I'm getting some rest, and my thoughts are already turning to next season and the goal of the World Championship."
Belgian Wout Alleman of the Buff Megamo Team finished seventh today in second place overall. The 120 points up for grabs weren't enough to beat the German. However, Alleman's performance did contribute to points for the team classification, which his Buff Megamo Team won.
The UCI World Cup standings conclude with a third-place finish for 43-year-old Colombian Leo Paez, who finished La Tramun in fourth place.
The women's race also saw strong competition, with Dutchwoman Rosa Van Doorn of the Buff Megamo Team finishing second in the Iberian race, earning 200 points that will secure her the 2025 HERO UCI Marathon World Cup trophy. "I'm speechless," said an emotional Van Doorn, interrupting her post-race interview with a few tears of emotion. "It's been an amazing season, with important victories and impressive results on a variety of terrains that confirmed the excellent work we've done," continued the freshly crowned World Cup winner. "And today was another tough one, on a demanding course made even tougher by the rain. Congratulations to Paula Gorycka-Kurmann, because she was truly the strongest. I'm already ready for next season."
In second place in the general classification is the Italian Sandra Mairhofer, who today finished in seventh place, not at ease on such slippery terrain, and completing the World Cup podium is the comeback of the Polish Paula Gorycka – Kurmann, today the absolute dominator of La Tramun, demonstrating her tenacity on the hard courses.
After five races full of adrenaline and twists, this year's edition of the UCI World Cup comes to an end, but work is already underway for the 2026 HERO UCI edition. Cross-country Marathon World Cup, with a schedule that confirms the 2025 events and which sees the calendar open with a new competition scheduled for February 21 in Calpe, Costa Blanca, Spain.
"Yes, it's true, we're already working on the next edition, but right now we want to enjoy the success of this initiative, which has sought to provide a new development plan for mountain bike marathons, a competitive formula that allows us to enhance the area where it takes place and, at the same time, the coexistence of the two souls of the movement: top-level competitiveism and amateur practice," commented Gerhard Vanzi, coordinator of the UCI HERO.
