This 2023 was also characterized by the weather, which put a strain on all of Italy with extreme conditions during the spring and summer months. The Coppa Italia kicked off in Caldirola, with a very complicated weekend, everything under pouring rain, and concluded with bad weather which unfortunately conditioned Sunday's heat in Bormio, but all this did not detract from the show and the will to fight of all the competitors, demonstrating the beauty of this sport!
In the final race in Valtellina, everything was ready for a great event: a wonderful location and a top-of-the-range slope, perfectly created by the managers of the Bormio Ski Area. But the weather doesn't control the weather and after Saturday's practice under a wonderful sun, the forecast for Sunday didn't give many chances, because there were thunderstorms starting at the end of the morning. The race direction has rearranged the entire program to avoid lightning and thunderbolts, which could have stopped the race, but on Sunday morning, in addition to the rain, a wind at a height of over 80kmh forced the organization to declare the cancellation of Sunday's heat. Consequently, as per the national regulation, the Saturday timed trials became valid as race heats, giving points for the assignment of this year's title. All riders and teams had already been warned of this possibility at the Friday briefing, as the forecast was quite clear on Sunday.
