The 2025 Marathon World Championship, held on the Grand Raid BCVS course in Valais (Switzerland), has crowned two new world champions: Keegan Swenson among men and KateCourtney among women, giving the United States a historic double.
In the men's field, American Keegan Swenson was the first to reach the top of the feared Pas de Lona (2.700 m, with the final 20 minutes to be covered on foot). It was there that he made the difference, setting a pace that was unsustainable for his rivals and crossing the finish line alone. It was his first rainbow jersey.
Immediately after, a great performance by the Italian Samuel Porro, who had been preparing for this World Championship for months, knowing that the course suited his abilities. Thanks to his consistency and climbing skills, he fought to the end, finishing in second place, just 25 seconds behind Swenson.
