The 2024 UCI Mountain Bike World Series made its debut in Poland this week with a route that put the athletes to the test due to the weather conditions. In fact, after a heavy morning downpour, the sun came out but the track remained damp.
Ronan Dunne (Mondraker Factory Racing) put in a perfect performance to take his first ever win in the UCI DH World Cup in Poland. It was another Irishman who was the center of attention for much of the men's final: Oisin O'Callaghan (YT Mob) finished in 10th place and remained in the top positions for much of the race.
Benoît Coulanges (Dorval AM Commencal) shattered the 21-year-old Irishman's dreams by ousting him and finishing in 4th place. Loic Bruni closes one of his runs, making it clear that it will be difficult to beat him. But Ronan Dunne closed an extraordinary run beating the French champion by just 64 cents.
The third rounds of the UCI World Cup Downhill and the UCI Enduro and E-Enduro World Cups will take place in Saalfelden Leogang – Salzburg, Austria, from 7 to 9 June, while the Cross Country championships will resume next weekend (24-26 May) in Nové Město Na Moravě, Czech Republic.
