The 10 Mistakes NOT TO MAKE on a mountain bike!

Is it sunny and you want to go out and explore new places? Mountain biking is the sport for you! But avoid these mistakes 🙂

the 10 mistakes not to make in mtb

If you have come here perhaps your level is basic while, if it is not true, it is always good to review the mistakes to avoid in MTB. You can also find the video below.

VIDEO 10 MISTAKES

Once there was experimentation, it was wrong and the shot was corrected. Now let's take advantage of technology to start off on the right foot without having it already in the pit!

the 10 mistakes to avoid for those who approach MTB

1. Change the pedals

Bikes usually come without pedals but you don't want to ride without them? And if there are, they are of poor quality. So take the opportunity to mount more technical pedals: maybe not immediately with aggressive pins, so as not to find yourself in the emergency room and the bike unattended outside, but also in plastic material, the important thing is that the base of the pedal is wide and has a minimum of foothold.

2. Look after your clothing

Ok, it's not like you have to be dressed like Loic Bruni in the World Cup, but at least you don't have to have underpants! Whether you ride in lycra, or you ride with loose clothing, we must have pants with a pad: our butt will thank you.

3. The shoes

Don't make the mistake of not evaluating technical shoes: it's like wanting to play golf in flip flops! Yes ok, it can be done but you would only find advantages in the Banker. So technical shoe, which will have adequate protection on the sides and toe, and with a specific sole: flat (in the case of a Flat pedal) or with a hook (in the case of a clipless pedal). Do not use hook shoes with flat soles or vice versa, it makes no sense! It's like putting chocolate on pasta: ok chocolate is good but there are other places to put it.

4. Modulates braking

The main fall is falling because it is stapled dry with the front ... and this often happens already in the square where you bought the bike! So cool even if a herd of horses (or even just one) is across the road. Brake gently. The same goes for the rear brake of course so you don't have the wheel permanently locked.

5. Use the gearbox

If with the traditional bike we have learned the hard way to use the gearbox, otherwise we would not have been able to get up from the garage at home, with the e-bikes we have the evil turbo that comes to our aid when we put in a relationship that not even Cipollini of the best years ! So learn how to use the gearshift: the bikes only have the gearshift behind so it is quite a simple operation. Never wait for the climb to start because it's too late! By car you don't arrive in fifth at the entrance to the Mortirolo.

6. Look ahead

Go where you want the bike to go: if you want to go against a tree look at it and you will see that the close encounter will come in 3-2-1. Slow down your speed a little and look up: if you learn to drive with this set-up everything will be easier and you will also lower the probability of getting stuck by not looking at the front wheel. When you go in the car, do you not look at the dashboard? (cit scuolamtb.it)

7. The helmet

"But I go slowly", how many times have we heard this phrase, perhaps said by someone who has not seen the bike since the time of the first communion. The helmet should be used even more so if you are a beginner. And it must be worn in the correct way: not too low on the face (seeing the path is important) and not even all moved backwards (in case of a fall it would not have the protective function for which it was designed) ... and possibly straight (put video of Prodi).

8. Brake with one finger

For braking, if you use disc brakes, only your index finger is used: leave the use of 3-5-7 fingers on the brake lever alone. Or the use of weird fingers, like the ring or middle fingers, unless you want to fuck the friend in front of you.
If you feel like braking with more fingers, it is likely that you have put the brake lever wrong: move it further in so as to reach the end of the lever with your index finger and vouilà: that's it. It will also be easier to modulate braking.

9. Evaluate the telescopic

"ma Nino Schurter does not use it", Ah, why do you compare yourself to Nino? A little strong as a comparison. Take it easy. The telescopic handler helps in any situation, be it a steep descent, a technical climb or simply setting foot on the ground in a dangerous situation. If we do not miss it, it means that we are not taking full advantage of the MTB (a course is needed).

"Easy to drive with the telescopic", Well, but no one told you that you have to create handicaps on purpose when you can remove them, otherwise from now on I ride with a 50cm handlebar and I say:"easy to ride with the wide handlebar."

10. Finish the lap with a good third time

The outings must end with a stop at the bar and a nice cold beer. Also accept Radler or Panache. Okay, maybe not at the end of each lap but remember to always keep an eye on this aspect. Are you a teetotaler? Ok, let's start from point 1.
