Thanks to the supervision of Beppe Salerno of Apennine MTB Stage Race (7-day stage race) and the highly trained guide Paolo Mantovani of Laughs The Giant, we were able to spend 3 wonderful days on Monte Cusna in pure Mountain Bike style: backpacking and off with our e-bikes. At the beginning of the article you can see the vlog video of our trip. Trails in pure all-mountain style.

First Day

GPS TRACK # 1 ➡ https://www.strava.com/activities/5521907074

Departure from San Geminiano and ascent to the Passo delle Forbici, passing through the Rifugio delle Maccherie and the Passo del Giovarello. Then descent to Civago for the Lupo Bianco trail (very beautiful and technical, especially in wet conditions) and then up the forest road towards the Segheria all'Abetina Reale refuge, reached by the CAI 681 path.

Arriving late afternoon at the refuge, we were able to perceive the tranquility of not having wifi and mobile phones, of being immersed in nature at 2000m and… breaking down with food! 🙂

In the evening at the refuge we were able to taste various local dishes: barzigole di carne di pochera, cotechino, polenta and baked potatoes with a cheesecake finish. Ah, Lambrusco could not be missing.

Second day

GPS TRACK # 2 ➡ https://www.strava.com/activities/5521910119

After a good sleep with fresh air and zero noise pollution, departure from the Segheria refuge at Passo di Lamalite by forest road, then for single track to Passone, Passo di Vallestrina and Bocchetta di Val Calda.

Descent to Civago first for the CAI 681 path and then for the trail called Cerbiatto. Go up the forest road towards Passo di Lamalite up to the intersection with the CAI 607 path and second descent to Civago along the Cavallina path. The arrival of the stage was at the 2 Pini hotel in Minozzo which welcomed us with great hospitality. There was no lack of food in the evening: an avalanche of tortelli overwhelmed us but no one left anything there. A pleasure for the palate!

[email protected] I am passionate about everything that has 2 wheels: in my youth I practiced competitive cycling on the road and on the track with good results. At the age of 18 I moved to cross country competing at national/international level as U23. Once I passed Elite, I made the choice to take things easier from the training point of view, and that's how my love for gravity disciplines was born, training as an FCI MTB instructor and guide. Now I have made my passion my profession by managing 3 MTB centers on the island of Elba (Elba MTB), creating the FANTAmtb and telling in an ironic but professional way, everything that revolves around MTB thanks to 365mountainbike and 365TV (YouTube 'PULITI dentro BIKER fuori').
