Puliti Dentro Biker Fuori

# 78 How much ALTITUDE can I do with an ELECTRIC BIKE?

78 ^ episode of PULITI dentro BIKER fuori where we will put the GIANT Reign E + to the test with a mini test of the bike itself and a range test.

Giant reign TEST (4)
On the highest point of the test (1900m)

Space also for the usual 365news with all the updates on the off-road world. Space for the video-test and, further below, some insights including the links recalled in the video (we used the default ECO value provided by the manufacturer).

RIDER AND ROUTE DETAILS

Rider weight with backpack: 80kg
Pedals: SPD
Bike: GIANT REIGN and + 1 (test)
Motor: SyncDrive Pro, 85Nm, powered by Yamaha
Battery: 625wh (new)

It took almost 66km and 2574m of elevation gain to completely drain the Giant Reign's battery in ECONOMY mode. For the less experienced, on an electric bike when it comes to autonomy, it is right to talk about altitude difference traveled and not mileage, because now with the 625wh / 700wh batteries in the plain (always Economy) it is almost impossible to discharge it in a day, at least that we are not heavyweights or we do not do 12 straight hours of cycling. By height difference, I mean positive height difference, so how much climb has been made. Which then, of course, is also equivalent to the negative if you leave and arrive at the same point ๐Ÿ™‚

E-MTB VS MTB

I also took the opportunity to make a comparison on some uphill sections during the tour to see if the pace set with the e-bike was so different from that set with the traditional mtb (an XC front). This is a previous muscle ride of mine on the same track. The difference is not substantial but then you can feel the difference on the descent: there we have an e-mtb with 170mm of travel available, while on the other side a 100mm front... a big difference! Not to mention the exhaustion at the end of the ride, which is naturally greater in the case of traditional MTB.

times
Same commitment with eco e-bikes, and light front, on one of the long climbs of the tour.

ppgad@pucrs.br I am passionate about everything that has 2 wheels: in my youth I practiced competitive cycling on the road and on the track with good results. At the age of 18 I moved to cross country competing at national/international level as U23. Once I passed Elite, I made the choice to take things easier from the training point of view, and that's how my love for gravity disciplines was born, training as an FCI MTB instructor and guide. Now I have made my passion my profession by managing 3 MTB centers on the island of Elba (Elba MTB), creating the FANTAmtb and telling in an ironic but professional way, everything that revolves around MTB thanks to 365mountainbike and 365TV (YouTube 'PULITI dentro BIKER fuori').
