E-BIKE: The 10 mistakes you absolutely must not make

Please: if you are new to e-bike, don't make these mistakes 🙂

If you have clicked on this video, it means that some doubts will have come to you. Or you want to have a little laugh with us. So here's what I list:

The 10 mistakes not to be made on an e-bike

1. SEAT HEIGHT

I know that on the e-bike pedaling is assisted and therefore no particular attention is paid to biomechanics, but you don't have to have a position close to the toilet.
Correctly position the saddle at the right height (I recommend a good biomechanical) so that even the lowest assistance modes, such as sincere ECO, become fully usable. And then you want to put the style.

2. CHANGE PROPERLY

Does the electric bike have a clutch ?! No, precisely because it is not a moped, so stop changing direct drive! Take it easy. Try not to change under stress: you avoid excessive wear of the components and thus reduce the risk of finding yourself walking without a chain. You just need to loosen the pedaling a bit before shifting, nothing astronomical.

3. AUTONOMY

Before leaving for a long journey, remember that the battery is not infinite: even if by now the 600 or 900wh batteries give delusions of omnipotence, sooner or later it ends ... and it could do it at the worst moment! Try to calculate in advance when you will sometimes do the braggart uphill easily overtaking friends in echo or, even worse, who may be climbing on a pedal bike! At that moment you may want to slice the bike frame in 2.

4. TURBO MODE

If you have never used an electric bike and you want to do some challenging descents, remember to deactivate the turbo because you may not be ready for a possible sudden release of the bike, even if it were a runaway colt. And be careful even uphill: the evil turbo is a damn energy-consuming mode in terms of autonomy!

5. NO TO EXTRA-LIGHT

No, I'm not talking about eating (although you should): if you are planning to tackle technical trails, it is better to equip yourself with more massive tires and anti-puncture inserts. Do not file on the weight of the components, you may regret it. Also be prepared to give extreme oil to the inner tubes: the e-bike is heavy and the risk of puncture is around the corner, especially if we combine everything with the use of light tires. You won't complain if your bike takes a few extra kilos, will you?

6. USE THE EXCHANGE

If with the traditional bike we have learned the hard way to use the gearbox, otherwise we would not have been able to get up from the garage at home, with the e-bike you will find the evil turbo that comes to your aid when you put a relationship that not even Cipollini of the best years !
Stay calm. Learn to use the gearshift: modern bikes have only the rear gearbox so it is a fairly simple operation. Never wait for the climb to start because it's too late! By car you don't arrive in fifth at the entrance to the Stelvio.

7. MAINTENANCE

As soon as you have bought your new e-bike, your trusted mechanic should advise you to come back after a few visits to him for a check-up. If, on the other hand, no one recommended it to you, we are here! After a hundred kilometers check (if you are able) that at least all the screws are still tight or take it to a mechanic. Even the motor, and the mechanical parts inside it, do not have an infinite life so if you start hearing strange noises like a "screw shaker in a blender" keep calm and take the bike to your trusted dealer!

8. DRIVING COURSES

But everyone knows how to go by bike: said the one who crashed on the first descent, asserting to his wife that he was injured on a stretch of the World Cup when he was on the Po cycle path.
Taking driving courses is very important: even those who drive fairly self-taught, a driving course (with competent people) will lead them to be much more aware of their means. MTB is much more than just going along a river bank: if you are in good physical shape, sign up for a course and a world will open up for you.

9. evaluate the TELESCOPIC

It has now become our crusade, that of recommending the telescopic handler also on the graziella with which you go to get bread. The telescopic, especially on an e-bike, will also help you in the technical uphill sections. Ah, with the technique you can drive even without a telescopic? But sorry, are you sure you're one of those technical riders? Be modest. If I haven't convinced you yet, at the end of this video you will find an ad hoc video where I will try to change your mind.

10. CHARGED BATTERY

The last mistake, perhaps the most trivial: but how many times have you understood that your friend shows up with a low battery? Maybe not at 0%, but it is enough to arrive with half a charge to leave with the conviction of those who will already lose the battle. The first thought of an e-biker, when he comes home from a ride, must be to charge the battery.
