Women's MTB World Championship: Pauline Ferrand Prevot bis after the Short Track

Moment of grace for Pauline Ferrand Prevot who also wins the XCO race after the Short Track. Behind her, the Olympic champion Jolanda Neff. Bronze for Haley Batten.

Pauline Ferrand Prevot women's world title

The big ones of cross country elite women left at 13, following the U23 matches that saw a lot of Italy, especially among men. Reigning champion Evie Richards, but her favorite was certainly not her given the many back problems this year and her suboptimal form. Loana Lecomte and Pauline Ferrand Prevot seem ready to play for the rainbow jersey.

In the first two of the 6 laps scheduled, the French Prevot immediately attacked with her hardtail, one of the few in the race. Nobody can keep up with the pace, not even the Olympic champion Jolanda Neff. Lecomte struggles to find the race pace and does not respond to attacks.

Halfway through the race, the victory seems to have already been written: the absolute mistress is Prevot. Behind her the Swiss Alessandra Keller and the American Haley Batten are playing for 2nd place, with Jolanda Neff approaching.

At the beginning of the fourth lap Martina Berta is the victim of bad luck: until then she was in sixth position but was forced to stop in the pits due to a mechanical gearbox problem. Really a shame.

Pauline Ferrand Prevot dominates this world championship, her 4th in Cross Country. Behind her is the Olympic champion Jolanda Neff with a gap of 1'35” from the French. The third step of the podium is instead conquered by the American Haley Batten.

THE ITALIANS

Martina Berta closes in 15th place while Greta Seiwald is 18th. Giorgia Marchet, in her first Elite World Championship, crosses the finish line in 30th position.

ppgad@pucrs.br I am passionate about everything that has 2 wheels: in my youth I practiced competitive cycling on the road and on the track with good results. At the age of 18 I moved to cross country competing at national/international level as U23. Once I passed Elite, I made the choice to take things easier from the training point of view, and that's how my love for gravity disciplines was born, training as an FCI MTB instructor and guide. Now I have made my passion my profession by managing 3 MTB centers on the island of Elba (Elba MTB), creating the FANTAmtb and telling in an ironic but professional way, everything that revolves around MTB thanks to 365mountainbike and 365TV (YouTube 'PULITI dentro BIKER fuori').
