EICMA, the international cycle and motorcycle fair in Milan, opened its doors on Thursday 10 November in Rho: 6 pavilions present, demonstrating that fairs are returning to fashion, after a sharp decline in the pre-covid. In the past it was one of the staples for bikes but now the trend has changed, even if e-bikes are slowly returning to occupy the halls of motorcycle brands.
MORE BIKES OR BIKES?
Surely the engines aspect is dominant and, if you are a minimum enthusiast, it is worth taking a tour given the many brands present and the imperial stands of the most famous brands. If, on the other hand, you are a cyclist whose engines “couldn't care less”, then Eicma is not worth the effort. Most of the bikes present are e-bikes but with technical characteristics that are not of the highest level: these bikes are often present in the stands of motorcycle brands only for convenience of the moment, before real future investments in this sense.
Non-electric bikes, if we remove the stands of the few purely cycling brands (such as Olympia), we haven't seen any.
BIKE BRANDS
At Eicma, of purely bicycle brands, we find Andreani Group (with a part of the stand naturally reserved for the motorcycle department), Olympia, Scapin, Lombardo, Abus, Fantic. Present various important brands in the world of e-bike engines such as Oli, Bafang and Polini.
MOTORCYCLE BRANDS
Many motorcycle brands have put their e-bikes on display, but most without infamy and without praise. On the other hand, there are various models that have aroused much curiosity, such as Moto Parilla with the Tricolore model (here a video with Andrea Sezzi of Moto Parilla at Bike Up 2021), Malaguti, Vent,
PLEASANT NEWS
The prize for the most beautiful stand from an aesthetic point of view certainly wins VR46, with the 2 e-bikes and the VR Equipment clothing department (we talked about it here). The bike was created by MT Distribution led by Fabrizio Dragoni, with the support of Cristian Trippa, creator of Supernova Bikes and always present in the heart of the MTB environment.
EICMA PRICE
The cost of Eicma 2022 is € 19 (online) otherwise € 23 (at the cash desks on site). If you arrive by car, the cost of parking is more than € 10 for 4 hours. If you arrive by train, the fair is very well served as the metro is convenient.
