Yes, that includes pedaling up every hill (instead of taking shuttles), grueling road transfers between race venues each day (instead of coach transfers), providing all his own meals and nourishment (instead of squeezing into the generous food and refreshment stations), no mechanical support, sleeping in the bush every night (instead of hunkering down in our rider lodges), hiking [!!] (instead of taking helicopter flights) and even canoeing on the open sea (instead of taking the catamaran ferry). Perhaps hardest of all, he didn’t even accept a free beer from the coolers at the end of each race day!
A dedicated media crew followed Matthew throughout his mission and created this 23-minute documentary that we’ve been dying to share with you for a while now!
If this movie inspired you, follow the social media accounts @nzmtbrally. Or if you want to take on a 6-day enduro adventure, but closer to home, don’t forget that the organisers of NZ MTB Rally are also running the limited edition Trans-Savoie // Mont Blanc Enduro-Tours in the French Alps, also in 2025.
