The freedom that the bicycle gives you, respect for nature and the healthy fun of cycling. This is how the message launched by the elementary school children of Telve and Telve di Sopra can be summarized, who challenged each other to create the mascot of Valsugana Wild Ride. The Mtb Marathon event scheduled for next 30 July 2022 now has its new official symbol: Bikey.

The competition launched by GS Lagorai Bike in the primary schools of Telve and Telve di Sopra saw the pupils of twelve classes challenge each other in the creation of the new mascot of Valsugana Wild Ride. The goal was to find a symbol that was a perfect synthesis of the event, the Valsugana territory and the beauty of nature crossed by the competition.

The winner was the 4B class of Telve who created Bikey, a deer on a bike that was delivered life-size to the pupils of the two elementary schools on Tuesday 7 June 2022, with the Mayor of Telve di Sopra Giampaolo Bonella and the Councilor for sport by Telve Anna Stroppa to do the honors and in the presence of the Mayor of Carzano Nicoletta Trentinaglia, the Mayor of Torcegno Daniela Campestrin and the Headmaster of the Comprehensive Institute "Centro Valsugana" Bruno Gentilini.

The deer is a symbolic animal for the Valsugana, prince of the territory and synonymous with freedom. With his bike, Bikey rides free among the paths and the uncontaminated nature of Valsugana, also launching a message of respect and sustainability, central both to the reality of Valsugana Wild Ride and to the philosophy of the territory that is the protagonist.

“With this competition addressed to primary school pupils in the area, we wanted to bring the new generations closer to Valsugana Wild Ride - explains the President of GS Lagorai Bike, Enrico d'Aquilio -. It is important to bring the little ones closer to cycling and healthy sport done in the open air. In our own small way, we try to involve the whole territory, which we would like to be proud of and to feel represented by our event ".

Valsugana Wild Ride, with its two courses (Marathon of 62,3 Km and 2.950 m of altitude difference and Classic of 31,8 Km and 1.280m of altitude difference) is the perfect synthesis of an event able to combine a competitive soul with the aim of showing the natural beauty of the area to a wide audience of enthusiasts. With this in mind, alongside the two races, Valsugana Wild Ride will also offer the “Fun & Ride”, a non-competitive ride open to all, to enjoy the territory without haste.

Furthermore, on the Sunday preceding the event (23 July) a food and wine tour will take place for the second time on the classic track of the race, also open to e-Bikes with the MTB instructors of the sports group to guide. A different but always precious opportunity to enjoy glimpses and flavors of a unique territory.

THEY SAID

Giampaolo Bonella (Mayor of Telve di Sopra): “The GS Lagorai Bike should be thanked for the commitment in favor of the territory. This initiative is just another example of his fruitful work to promote sport and our area ”.

Daniela Campestrin (Mayor of Torcegno): “Sport is a high form of education and in the drawings made I see an attachment to nature, to life in the open air. The Valsugana Wild Ride project has the merit of bringing you into our territory by letting you know the beauty of our paths and landscapes ".

Nicoletta Trentinaglia (Mayor of Carzano): “The designs were beautiful and the one selected as mascot is wonderful. The school-sport combination is essential to make you grow in a healthy way, therefore a special thanks goes to GS Lagorai Bike for the work it is doing ".

Anna Stroppa (Councilor for Sport of Telve): “This collaborative work between GS Lagorai Bike and elementary schools is fundamental to transmit the healthy values of sport. We have chosen a mascot that perfectly represents Valsugana Wild Ride and the whole territory ”.

Bruno Gentilini (Headmaster Istituto Comprensivo Centro Valsugana): “Bikey represents many things: an ecological message, a symbol of the territory and outdoor sports. The message that emerged from this competition is a beautiful message because it is the children who actively contribute within their community ”.
