Trek launches the brand new Fuel EXe with pedal assistance

Trek's new Fuel Exe is ready to redefine the world of e-MTBs with a natural and silent pedal assist, which will allow you to give your best to every kilometer.

Trek FuelEXe-Action_Assist_3

The Trek Fuel Ex-E is the direct rival of lighter e-bikes like Orbea Rise and Specialized Turbo Levo SL. The travel is 150mm at the front and 140mm at the rear in 29 ″. Produced only with Mountain OCLV Carbon Fiber frame.

FEATURES

  • TQ HPR50 engine with 50 Nm of torque
  • 300W peak
  • 360 Wh battery (optional 160wh range extender)
  • bike weight: 19 Kg (version 9.9 XX1 AXS, size L)
  • suspension travel: 150 mm front, 140 mm rear

Mounted flush in the top tube, the 2 ”OLED display allows you to see every detail you need from above while maintaining a discreet profile on the side. A single button turns the system on and off and allows you to switch between screens.

For maximum adjustability, Trek has developed the new Trek Central app that connects seamlessly with the Fuel EXe. Trek Central allows you to customize pedal assistance, track activities, map outputs, suggest or monitor tire and suspension pressure and view real-time range calculation. Customization of painting and components is always available on the Project One portal.

PRICES

Here is the sore point: e-bikes are now reaching levels a little too out of line for the true enthusiast: throwing € 15.000 for a bike is really getting it a little out of the box but the market is the market. Our Kom Cruise had deepened these issues: aluminum vs carbon e the price of the bikes.

BATTERY AND MOTOR

Fuel EXe is equipped with a 360 watt / hour battery that guarantees maximum power for two to five hours. The battery is hidden in the down tube and can be easily removed. For those wishing to cover longer distances, a 160 watt / hour Range Extender can be placed inside the bottle cage to increase range by 40%.

In collaboration with German robotics manufacturer TQ, Trek developed Fuel EXe to work perfectly with the new HPR50 engine. Short for harmonic pin ring drive, the HPR50 forgoes noisy, wear-prone belts and gears in favor of a completely revised system that is smaller, lighter, quieter and more durable than traditional e-bike motors. The whole system comes down to just 3.900 grams, which means a lighter bike that rides like traditional mountain bikes. When compared to traditional e-mountain bike motors, the HPR50 is smooth, natural and barely noticeable.

ppgad@pucrs.br I am passionate about everything that has 2 wheels: in my youth I practiced competitive cycling on the road and on the track with good results. At the age of 18 I moved to cross country competing at national/international level as U23. Once I passed Elite, I made the choice to take things easier from the training point of view, and that's how my love for gravity disciplines was born, training as an FCI MTB instructor and guide. Now I have made my passion my profession by managing 3 MTB centers on the island of Elba (Elba MTB), creating the FANTAmtb and telling in an ironic but professional way, everything that revolves around MTB thanks to 365mountainbike and 365TV (YouTube 'PULITI dentro BIKER fuori').
