Motocross is one of the most physically demanding motorsports in the world, where preparation matters as much as talent in the final outcome. This is why the best cross riders use the Mountain Bike, and the e-Bike specifically, to improve their condition.
The main advantage is the improvement of cardiovascular fitness, in order to increase resistance over long distances, essential to allow a driver to maintain high concentration and clarity for the entire duration of the race. Furthermore, cycling helps develop leg strength, which is crucial for stability and control of the motorbike.
In this one is of great advantage pedal assisted bike, because it allows you to pedal at constant heart rates, even in the presence of significant differences in height, with longer workouts which can be alternated with cool-down sessions.
Cairoli and his preparation
Antonio Cairolli won the first heat of the Ponte a Egola race of the Italian Motocross Pro-Prestige, raced a few weeks ago in prohibitive surface conditions, thus demonstrating his level of physical preparation. The nine-time World Champion trains by bicycle, mainly on mountain bikes. His choice was one Ducati Powerstage RR, model full carbon e-enduro introduced last year in the Ducati range.
Tony Cairoli, official rider of the Ducati Corse R&D – Factory MX Team: “Motocross is an extremely physical discipline, which requires athletic preparation at the highest levels, based on strength and a lot of resistance. The bicycle therefore represents the perfect training.
A large part of my winter preparation is based on mountain bike sessions. I chose an enduro model because, in addition to training, it allows me to tackle particularly technical trails, so as to also practice my riding technique".
"On a mountain bike, as on a motorbike, you need to know how to choose the right trajectories, constantly correct the balance of the vehicle and body posture, control braking by making quick decisions and automating many movements. The bike allows you to go step by step and try new things by gradually intensifying the speed of execution, so as to acquire better control and confidence which is also useful on a motorbike. "
