Tom Pidcock approached his recovery day very differently from most other athletes.
Current XCO races are pure explosiveness: very intense and prolonged efforts that usually leave a mark on the body of the runners. The standard procedure, after an XCO race at the highest levels, is a regenerative training: an active rest with which to start preparing the body for the next big effort. Especially knowing that this Friday there is already the Short Track and Sunday the Nove Mesto test. But that's not Tom Pidcock's strategy.

190km of training at an average speed of 32,7km / h with more than 2.000m of elevation gain seems serious training for any cyclist on the planet, but that's what Tom Pidcock decided to do the day after he won (with authority ) in the XCO World Cup in Albstadt. He decided to get to Nove Mesto by bike: that Ineos didn't give him the van to use?
It started from Albstadt and reached the Czech Republic (Hořovice), about half of the way to Nove Mesto.

For comparison, Vlad dascalu did a workout of just over 1 hour and less than 30 km. Others have extended the day more, as in the case of Thomas Litscher and its nearly 3 hours to cover 78 km. But far from the 6 hours of Pidcock.
