An Italian project with innovative technical solutions and design. The THOK e-mtb with Shimano Steps E8000 engine are coming, which can be ordered online from November 21st 2016.
THOK is a new e-mtb born from the passion of Stefano Migliorini, one of the strongest Italian MTB athletes of the nineties, combined with the entrepreneurial skills of Giuseppe Bernocco and Sebastiano Astegiano, founders of the TCN Group, a Piedmontese company with about 300 employees and a turnover of around 60 million euros in 2015.
THOK will exclusively manufacture e-bikes that will be available to order from 21 November 2016 throughout Europe, only and exclusively online on the website www.thokebikes.com. Once you have purchased your MIG, the customer can choose to receive it at home, at a THOK Point (authorized centers that will be born throughout Europe) or in their trusted store.
For the launch of the brand on the international market, an "all-mountain" model was chosen, the MIG, whose name is inspired by the nickname "Mr. Mig ”which made Stefano Migliorini famous on the BMX and DH fields all over the world.
Testimonial and exceptional tester is the 20 times Trial World Champion Toni Bou, who actively participated in its development. The very Spanish champion, who had started his career on two wheels with bmt (bicycle trials) as a child, took off the veils of the MIG during the weekend of the Valencia MotoGP Grand Prix, receiving, on the occasion, the first example of the version dedicated to him, which will be produced in only 20 copies.
The MIG boasts a series of features that make it unique:
An innovative design, studied by D-Perf, the atelier of Aldo Drudi who, in addition to being the most famous designer of helmets and liveries in MotoGP, is also an appreciated designer (his motorboat Anvera 55 of the LG Technology Hub shipyards as well as the Burrasca 1200, a "concept bike" based on Honda). Integration of the 504Wh Shimano battery, placed under the down tube and protected by an ABS cover, fixed with a dedicated elastic band, for better weight distribution and an ideal integration with the engine and the frame. Geometries and linkages expressly designed for e-mtb in collaboration with the industrial designer Luca Burzio. Shimano STEPS E-8000 engine, the new product of the Japanese giant, expressly designed for use in e-mtb (reduced dimensions and weight, Q factor - distance between the pedals - equal to that of a mtb without engine, minimum dimensions that have made it possible to create a rear "wagon" as a reference for an e-mtb with plus tires , small display and 1,6 "color LCD screen ...)
The MIG was created to give the best in the rough terrain typical of hiking in the Alps where it was developed. It has, in all its versions (MIG, MIG R and MIG LIMITED EDITION), a 150mm front travel, 140mm rear travel, 66 ° steering angle and 27.5 '' wide 2,8 Plus tires.
The first MIG that can be ordered is the “Limited Edition”, which boasts top-of-the-range components customized with Toni Bou's “20 Times World Champion” logo, at a price of 6.490 euros (VAT included).
In the coming weeks THOK will present the details and prices also for the MIG and MIG R versions.
Toni Bou
“I had a lot of fun working with Stefano to develop the MIG! Together we have managed to create a very balanced e-mtb in all situations. In my opinion, the MIG is the link between bike and motorcycle, and perfectly combines physical performance and environmentally friendly technology ".
Stefano Migliorini
“I am very satisfied with the MIG. With the LGC (Low Gravity Center) system we have lowered the center of gravity making it very agile and performing. Our bike is also stiff thanks to how the connection between the down tube and the motor mount has been designed. We have chosen to use the brand new Shimano Steps E8000 motor because in addition to being the most innovative on the market, it has allowed us, thanks to its small size, to create a very short rear stay (450mm) that ensures agility very similar to that of a mtb without motor. Last but not least, we were able to position the bottle in the classic position, which is unusual for an e-bike and always very comfortable ”.
