The third stage measured 63 km for 2200 meters in altitude, less demanding than the first two, but with the treacherous Runca Trail in the last kilometers. To all this was added the bad weather that hit the group since the departure from Laax.

Fabian and Daniel, well aware of the leader's jersey firmly on their shoulders, had planned a control stage and in fact, unlike the first two stages, they did not attack on the first climb, but remained close before Singer Racing and then Buff Megamo , respectively second and third in the overall standings. In the last descent they pushed the Buff Megamo team forward, with whom they were on the run with about 1 'ahead of Singer Racing, to be able to face the Runca Trail in a more calm way and without risking anything, a good choice because right on a particularly rocky stretch the Spanish team got a puncture. At that point, the Wilier Triestina Pirelli had nothing left to do but keep their heads down and push to take their third victory out of three stages disputed in this Swiss Epic 2022.

“Today we wanted to control the race, we didn't want to risk too much downhill and so we put the Buff Megamo in the lead, also because we knew that Singer Racing had broken away. Today we would also have settled for second place, but then the Buffs punctured and so we went straight to the finish line for yet another stage win. We both remembered the Runca Trail well from past editions and we knew it was a puncture risk section so we slowed down a bit and in fact then we saw Becking puncture and at that point we went alone to the finish "- Daniel Geismayr
Now the advantage in the general classification for the Wilier Triestina Pirelli team of Fabian Rabensteiner and Daniel Geismayr has risen to 6'21 "
Tomorrow stage 4, the queen stage, from Laax to Davos, 100 km with 2800 meters of elevation gain.
